im pretty sure about my answer, but i'd like a second opinion. A benched pokemon wit unown G attached can still be sniped with damage from Empoleon LVLX or Flygon LVLX for example, even though it negates effects of attacks, because those effects pertain to DAMAGE and not damage COUNTERS, correct?

They would take the damage, because unown g CLEARLY states that it prevents effects of an attack, EXCLUDING damage. As long as it says its doing damage, it will hit.

what about something on the lines of "Place/put 3 damage counters on target pokemon"

is that counted as effect or damage.

If that wasn't an effect, Gengar/Dusknoir would be the brokenest cards in the world. So, yeah. If you've got an Unown G on a Pokémon, it prevents an attack that says "place damage counters on this Pokémon".

I have an Unkown G Question, If machamp attacks a basic with unknown G does it do 0? or does it do 40? or does it still get KOed

If Machamp uses Take Out with a Pokemon with Unown G on it, nothing happens. Since it is a basic Pokemon (in this case) the damage is replaced by the effect of attack. Since Unown G prevent effects of attacks, nothing happens. The damage doesn't happen because it was replace by an effect of attack.
