Ursaring Prime Deck

Aspiring Trainer
Member
4 Stantler (UL)
4-4 Ursaring Prime (Col Teddiursa)
2-2 Slowking HGSS (Undaunted Slowpoke)
2 Mr. Mime Jr. Col
2 Cryogonal (yet to be released, is in red set)
18 Pokemon

2 Pokemon Collector
4 Pokemon Communication
4 Plus Power
3 PONT
1 Judge
4 Team Rockets Trickery
4 Energy Exchanger
3 Pokemon Catcher (yet to be released, in EP)
27 Trainers

4 Double Colourless
4 Rainbow Energy
4 Rescue Energy
3 Water Energy

15 Energy

Use Stantler as a Starter to get out basics. Main focus of deck is disruption, you use slowkings power to choose what your opponent is going to get and what is going to be discarded by Ursarings attack. You should be mainly using ursarings top attack to disrupt while having a decent damage output if he has taken damage. Use the rainbow energys to put damage counters on ursaring. Cryogonal is there as a tech against fighting type pokemon which is ursaring weakness.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Any advice for changes or just comments on wether or not people think it will be competitive enough as a rogue deck. Please help needed.

Okay, I suppose I can take a shot at Ursaring.

Your Pokemon lines are very pyramid-like. It's better to run equal lines of the Basic and the Stage 1 and/or Stage 2. So I suggest you drop a Slowpoke and add an Ursaring Prime. You need to max out the line of your main attacker, and a 2-2 Slowking is enough. One thing that helps with Ursaring is Mime Jr. CoL. Some people may not agree, but its a nice starter to get rid of some of their good cards early-game, and since your deck lacks somebody with a free retreat, it's nice to have someone with free retreat so you can think about your next move. So I think it's safe to drop a Team Rocket's Trickery and an Energy Exchanger for 2 Mime Jr.; 4 of both of these cards is a lot(and you'll likely draw into the Rainbow anyway with all of your hand refresh). Try these suggestions:

- 1 Slowpoke UD
- 1 Team Rocket's Trickery
- 1 Energy Exchanger

+ 1 Ursaring Prime
+ 2 Mime Jr. CoL

You could probably lower your energy lines as well and add in Weavile UD to disrupt even more while Ursaring hits hard with its first attack. I'm not positive that 4 Rainbow are needed, considering your opponent will be hitting your Teddiursas anyway, but it's up to you.

BTW(by the way), Ground types do not exist in the TCG. I assume you mean Fighting, and yes, Ursaring is weak to Fighting. I don't think Samurott is a wise choice, because you do not run Rare Candy. Try Yanmega Prime if you can get your hands on them. It has a Resistance to Fighting and is a Stage 1, so you could fit in a 2-2 line(and possibly find room for a 2-2 Weavile, though it is not needed). Yanmegas are expensive right now, so if you can't get your hands on them, try a different Stage 1 like Zoroark, or keep Samurott. It's up to you and your playing choice, Yanmega is obviously the ideal choice, but at this point the general mindset in most player's minds is that Yanmega + anything = good.

Hope this deck works as well as the suggestions I provided! : )

I think you could take a different approach to this deck and try and get the T1 trainer lock with Teddiursa like the USA junior national champion did. If this was the case you could switch your ursaring line down to 4-2 as it is not going to be used all the time but Teddiursa is your starter so you need 4. You could add in roserade from UL as you already have rainbow energy to deal special conditions. Vileplume would be needed too.

The only other deck I know of which includes Ursaring is Ursaring/Typhlosion which is a decent deck running off the ninetales engine and you could add in a couple of reshirams too. Hope I helped.

I have decided to go with the changes to the line and looking at mr mime jr he does fit into the deck well. But i think for this deck team rockets trickery is a must so im droping a Judge instead as it disrupts my stratergy to much and is only there if im going really bad.

+1 Ursaring Prime
+2 Mr Mime Jr.

-1 Slowpoke
-1 Energy Exchanger
-1 Judge

Also will try it with the other tediursa as i dont need its attack to put the damage counters on as i have other ways and the stall might help. But as for the other changes they are rather drastic and would change the way this entire deck works and i would rather have slowking as my bench sitter rather than vileplume or ninetails.

Also you are right samurott does take to long to setup on the bench so i am looking at a different aproach for a tech. I was think of putting in a 2-2 line of zoroark and 4 pokemon circulators and putting the energy exchanger back in rather than have the samurott and the water energy.
So possibly
- 2-2-2 Samurott
- 3 Water energy

+2-2 Zoroark (BW)
+ 4 Pokemon Circulators
+1 Energy Exchanger

Do you think that this would be a better tech as Yanmega Prime is a bit to costly for me at the moment. Though it still means i weak to fighting types and im not quite sure what to do about that. Also chose circulators over reversal as guranteed to get the sleeping babies out of the way, which means the cant just hide behind sleep walls.

Also noticed that i auto loss to scizor prime decks.

Scizor isn't too common, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Try splitting the Pokemon Circulators into 3 Pokemon Reversal/1 Pokemon Circulator. Pokemon Circulator has some use in being able to force a switch, but Pokemon Reversal is just better to use Ursaring and pick off their weak Basics(babies) or their support system(Ninetales or something else).

I suppose Zoroark is a nice back-up attacker for this deck. I'd rather split the Judge and PONT 2/2, as an early Judge can screw your opponent(if they're not playing Yanmega) if you can get the Rainbow Energy T1. Not sure if this deck really needs a starter, as Teddiursa's pretty decent itself. I would consider dropping 2-4 Stantler for 2 more Pokemon Collector, a Super Rod(coming in Emerging Powers) to recover your Ursarings, and maybe some more hand refresh(probably another Judge and another PONT, if you choose to remove all four Stantler).

Another option instead of Samurott is Floatzel. It has free retreat and can help itself setup with its PokePower. Golduck is another option, since it can heal itself and can utilize Ursaring's DCE to power it's move and 1-shot Donphan, the main threat to this deck.

It does not auto-lose to Scizor, you think a Scizor can kill Samurott that easily?

OH! I almost forgot! The best anti-Donphan pokemon is the to-be-released Crygonal. It does 70 water damage for 2 energy to any Fighting type. That is exactly 120 to Donphan. Using that would free up space to include the ever-awesome Weaville, and maybe more water types since Ursaring is colorless. Gyarados? WOOT.

Or even Golurk and have 2 Hammer Armers, one to kill Zekrom.

Cryogonal does look like a good option, much better than samurott or zoroark.

-2-2-2 Samurott

+2 Cryogonal
+ 3 Pokemon Catcher
+ 1 Energy Exchanger

Will lose to scizor unless i can stop them from getting it out completely. Umbreon is also a problem. But if they use umbreon i will just attck with stantler for confusion as its basically the only option.

Also while Golurk could be used substitute his attack cost is to much to set-up and does less damage.
