The Nobel Peace Prize is given for hard work over years to help our fellow people. yes i think oboma is a good man to lead our country and a very good speaker. The point is i gave a speech that said in a nutshell. "We the U.S.A do not hate islamic people we are fighting to stop radical political extremists" yes a speech like this is moving but is it really worth such a noble prize like this? I dont know.

*in case you havent noticed, the war thats going on, is against the wrong country, Iraq didnt blow up the Twin Towers! Whos fault was that, I wonder, oh! right BUSH!
*who broke at least six promises to make this country better?
BUSH

now,I could o on forever, but really?
I just think that maybe your over-reacting with that comment, beecause BUSH WAS BAD, Im sorry, but thats the truth in my eyes.
My mom wrote her dissertation on Iraqui women going to college, and how hard it was, and mainly its hard, because of us, because of BUSH.

Personally, I think Barack Obama should win the Nobel Prize just for following Bush's shadow.

IIRC The war started in Iraq for oil. Not the twin towers. They are over that now. USA wants oil, thats there way of getting it. But I do see why the UK is staying there, because they like to follow not lead. I also heard something about them wanting to help, that confuses me.

However Obama may get some confidence with this nobel prize so you could say it is a blessing in disguise.

It was Bush's fault someone else killed thousands of people because they don't agree with our religion and want to control our country...? I hate to burst your bubble, but Al Qaeda had been giving us warning signs for about 10 years prior to 9/11. In case you didn't know Al Qaeda has been in existence since 1988. Before Bush even became President.

I don't like Bush anymore than the next guy, but try to get your facts (and your spelling) straight before you go around bashing ANYONE. Bush has done very bad things for the country, but he is most definitely NOT the cause of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In addition to that, how did this thread suddenly become a "Let's Bash President Bush!!!!" thread? I thought we were talking about Obama ._.

Speaking of which... actually, the nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize begin in November and end in February. He could have been picked before he even became president. If he was picked during February, by that time he had literally done nothing yet. Prizes are given for things you do, not for your skin color.

I really don't see how Obama was worthy of winning this at all. I agree with DarthPika. Obama is just as bad, and will probably be even worse, than Bush. You all will see in the future. Remember that he hasn't even been in office for one year yet; he's still got a lot more time to screw up our country even more than it is now.

When Obama came into the presidential race picture, he seemed like this guy that could just do everything. He seemed like the guy who could save the country. Well, guess what. He won't be saving the US. I don't care what he promises and how much he looks like some superhero, the Nobel Peace Prize should be given because of results, not words nor actions that have done little to nothing for the US.

Hint: It has to do with Prime Minister Blair resigning.
The oil is far off. Lessee, Obama actually made health care WORSE.

This whole topic is becoming a flame war. Please don't burn me.

Anyways, Bush is not evil. However, he did lie to the American Public about the WOMDs. 9/11 struck Bush as an offense to his father's term as president, and suddenly, defending America became less important then defending the Bush family name. For this, I find him despicable and disgusting, using a terrorist attack to control the nation. It's just as bad as communism.

I do feel bad for President Obama's work and ditch from Bush's presidency, however, he needs to start climbing out, and stop signing things like stimulus.

I think that while this may be premature, that dosent make Barack Obama any less deserving...he's one of the ONLY world leaders I've seen to even make peace and nuclear arms reduction a goal in his administration.

I thought that the speech he directed towards the Muslim World in Egypt was very well done and made me hopeful for a better relations in that region, not only between countries in that region, but between that region and the rest of the world.

As the article mentions (I don't know how many of you have read it), he also did many things to try and reduce nuclear arms. He has handled North Korea's nuclear situation well so far in my opinion, as well as the recent Iran nuclear testing.

The main point of giving Obama the NPP is to commend the fact that he's really trying to make things better here...if anyone in the world can do it, I think he can. But seriously guys, on top of EVERYTHING he's been juggling so far...the two wars, the economy/bailout, the national health care debate, the education initiatives he has tried to start, and the fact that we're in the largest deficit in US History really tells something about this guy...he's got his plate full and is adding more to make an impact in the short time he has to make a difference...while I think he's trying to do too much, I commend his actions so far and think he is more than deserving of this award for his work so far in world diplomacy and nuclear reduction policies, regardless of what he does from now on.

And other presidents have not ? No this is lovey dubby stuff for Obama. What has he done and first of all he is not fully black he is only half so i hate it when people are so in love with him because of that. So far with obama he is all talk and he can not fix anything because he is just switching from one war to another, making health care worst, giving welfare people more money with "spreading the wealth". horrible. now with the nobel prize thing all i can say is wow i think worldwide peace is great too... so i can expect my peace prize in the mail now right ? no, people talk is cheap do something obama and then u can have it . also each miss america contestant wishes for worldwide peace too so minus well give them some peace prizes to. Also i think this, does a mockery to the people that have won before like the king , and mother teressa they actually did something just didnt talk about trying to do something

for all you who support him receiving it...

here is the thing tho...he didnt do but one thing when he was nominated to begin with. xD he had just taken his seat in office.

it was 11 days later that the deadline hit.

its not what you do after youre nominated, but what you have done to become nominated and he obv did NOTHING as he wasnt in office to begin with.

oh, here's another little thing that most of you dont know....the prize comes with $1.3 million

You know, I'm not a proponent of Obama winning the prize at this stage, but I disagree with the facts that "he is just switching from one war to another" and "making healthcare worse". Al Qaeda is a necessary war, and America was in Pakistan/Afghanistan already before this. And going against healthcare and simply dissing it as making it worse? Sounds Republican.

That being said, you're right in your comments on B-Ray's quote.

Al Qaeda is a neccesery war but more and more are abusing there duties. I know its the minority but destroying ones dignity in order to live is a price that doesn't need to be there.

(If this isn't appropriate get rid of it blah, blah, blah. No harm was intended, just to state the truth.

that isnt just happening by american soldiers. besides, its nothing new...happens in every war that has ever existed.

I think they gave this to obama just to say hey you have done nothing and probebly won't so here is something to make you feel better/wanted. It is just stupid in my op.

wow, way to throw something in it that had nothing to do with my statement.

did i ever say it was ok? no. so dont go trying to assume something like that.

the point is, it will never stop, so all we can do is just look the other way.

You make it sound ok by saying its nothing new. Your attitude is why nothing will advance in society. This is why I think your making it sound as though it is fine. You don't condone it or resent the fact that Soldiers are doing that everyday.

Well iraq was a nesscarry war at the time as well with top terrorist in it too as well but guess what happened they ran and fled the country. So that is what they will do again they are cowards and will always be cowards. now i will not debate healthcare with u since this is the nobel prize thread but if u want to make a thread for it i will be gladly to debate that with you:p

why nothing will advance in society? lol, yea because this one small problem will totally hold back an entire generation of ppl from advancing into the "new age".

i dont condone it, nor resent it because i dont care. we cant do anything about it. if you want to do something, join the military, any branch will do, and ask your fellow soldiers to stop.

noob sandwich' response is a typical one of a person who really detests bush and everything he has done. prob one of the ones that goes to the rallies and bashes on any person who is military related. just sayin

btw I forgot to say that you were completely wrong. Never been to a rally and I support the troops, not the war.
