Ruling Using Reprinted Cards?

I'm curious; for the latest modified format (Deoxys and onwards iirc), is it possible to use cards that have been reprinted (for example, potion, switch, darkness energy, metal energy) from older sets?

I'm especially interested about reusing the ANCIENT WotC ones, since I have a billion of those and none of the new Nintendo ones :(

yeah you can use them, but nowadays no one uses potion, few people use switch, but the metal and darks are fine, the others are too but they arent used alot.

If you don't mind me asking;
1) What about the old Japanese versions of the cards? They have different backings from the English version though.

2) What other cards other than the 4 I mentioned earlier (potion, switch, darkness/metal energy) from old sets (talking about from Base Set 1 to Neo Genesis) that has been reprinted?

I already answerd the second question, yes. but potion isnt played alot anymore.

the first question, it is the same as back then, you still need to have sleeves that cover the back. You also need to have the page from the offical card-dex for jap. cards.

Sorry, but I think you misread my 2nd question; I was asking if there were any other reprints from the ancient sets other than the four cards I listed earlier, not "are the other reprinted cards also playable?".

1) No as the cards are Japanese (i assume)
2) Pikachu (base), Basics Energys, Rainbow enrgy, some others

Hehe, sorry. Energy search is one that comes to mind. But you can use japanese cards, you have to have sleeves that fully cover the back and that you cant see through.
 
^you cant use JAPANESE cards, a you can say watever you want to say as yor opponent (Most atleast) cant read Japaneese
 
There is this great thing called tthe card-dex on the pokemon-tcg website, if you have the official page from it then you can use the card, or if you have a copy of the american version of the card out of your deck then you can use it. check POP's site.:p

Or u can do what a friend of mine did for the Australian nats.
Have an English one next to it, or a photocopy or a print out of it handy when a judge comes around to have a look how the match/game is going.(I had to do this when I borrowed some matrix water energy fromJade when I was low on them....)
 
Actually, I doubt any average pokemon player would not be able to tell the card as darkness energy/metal energy/energy search/switch/potion/etc from just looking at it.....
