Vanilluxe ND Slip Strats?

So Vanilluxe, I love this pokemon and want to make a fun but good deck with it. Has anyone discovered any good strategies with it's Slippery Soles ability? I know it can counter decks that that lock you from attacking like Beartic, but is there really a good advantage for you to keep switching around with your opponent? My only guess is to use it with EXs that are almost dead, slip it up, bring out a fresh EX. Idk you tell me. ;o;

It's been brought up with using the Cursed Shadow Chandelure to hit for higher damage, but other than that, I wouldn't really use it anywhere else. You could use it as a tech in VVV to switch out Vanilluxe when need be, but I don't know how efficient that would be. It seems like a decent Donphan Prime tech, though, because of Donphan's 4 Retreat Cost and Weakness to Vanilluxe.

Guess I could test how well it mixes with that. Just trying to think which other pokemon would be really annoying to keep popping in and out for damage...or well anything. Thought about Absol and a bench sniper, but by the time that's all set up, your opponent would have the bench out already. :/

Really curious how well it would be with Donphan. Do like that idea. > ) Thanks`

RESTRUCTURE. (kinda)

I feel that the new Vanilluxe is a very interesting card, but I don't think it is very useful. Most of the time, Switch is going to outclass Vanilluxe. In fact, the only situation that I can think of where you would want this card over a switch would be against trainer lock variants, which seem to be declining in popularity. This card is going to be hard to get out under a trainer lock, being a stage 2 tech and all. I think Vanilluxe has a decent amount of things going for, getting an OHKO off on Donphan Prime and Reshiram EX is interesting, disrupting your opponent, and breaking condition locks are all great, but I feel that the cons outweigh the pros. I doubt it will see too much play.

@Vulpix Yolk: Yeah I hate how it's not much of an attacker. Not many 4 *'s are even playable, only like a small handful, so it maxing it attack is going to be rare. :/ But here's hoping it's weird ability will be handy some day. I'll lol when it does, though most doubtful.

@TURDCANNON (your avi and name..just so perfect together for laughs): If all else fails, I'll use it in one of those. Though I found something that might just work with it. Have a tank Pokémon as the active like Reggigius EX. When it gets to about 30 HP left, use Vanilluxe's ability next turn, bring out Cofagrigus. Use it's Damagriigus attack, move all those dmg counters from Reggigigus EX and kill something. Bam.

^ If you could get your second idea to work, that would be very devastating.

It's gonna need trainer lock and to somehow avoid Terrakion and Magnezone.

Problem is that I'm pretty sure the opponent chooses who their new active will be after you use slippery soles. They will just bring out a sacrificial lamb and then bring out something to revenge KO your Cofagrigus. Yes it gets to heal your Regigiggas EX, but besides that it is just a trade off and probably not worth it.

@Turdcannon: Surprisingly I haven't played anyone with that deck yet. Just the old Magnezone deck. Which is a terrible thing, because I really want to see it in action.

@MetaArmor: I figured if I had x4 Catcher's & Junk Arms then maybe I could have a bit more control of who I want the counters to go on? Idk will try. Though this would completely fail if it was against an Item lock deck.
I keep super over-analyzing this card lol, especially with Catcher control. Slip + Drifblimb + Catcher: Choose a card they have that they have set up or are trying to..or you just do not want right now. Slip + Octozooka Octillery: Switch, attack, attack makes it switch back. Slip + Blastioise 100 dmg snipe. So much..but there can only be one.

I would like to see it work in a ChadeyPlume deck. The problem is your bench would have to be perfect. One Chadey active, 2 on bench, Plume, Dodrio, and Slippy. this also leaves no room on bench for Blissy, so i guess it would ultimately fail.

Hmm...if you combine this with Chandelure (NV), and Dodrio, can that make you switch twice? So let's say you got Slip Vanilluxe, 2 Chande's and a Dodrio on your bench. You have a third Chandelure as your active. Use it's dmg counter ability. Use Slippery Soles ability to switch with the second Chande. Use that one's dmg ability. It's retreat cost is 0 from Dodrio. Switch with the third Chande and use it's ability. Then attack with it. -All of this happening on one turn.- As crazy slow it would be to set all that up, is that legal to do? Not that I'd try that lol, but switching twice seems like a nice advantage with different Pokémon abilities, that require it to be "active" to work.

Lol I am trying way too hard to use this guy. XD

Well, I tell you what--it can one-hit KO Donphan, Reshiram (assuming no Eviolite), Typhlosion, and Emboar. If you can get Vanilluxe fully Energied up (which will definitely be the hard part), then it's going to be trouble for someone using a Reshiram deck.

It shouldn't be too hard to get it powered. A single water + DCE is enough.

It's a stage 2, so rare candy can have it in play on your second turn.

It's guaranteed at least 70-80 damage depending on skyarrow bridge. Definitely something to watch out for.

Kyurem EX is an interesting play with it. I can almost imagine this:

Pokemon: 20
3-2-2 Vileplume
3-2-2 Vanilluxe
3 Kyurem EX
2 Mewtwo EX
1 Cleffa

The strategy would be to abuse Vanilluxe to swap up easy prizes for Kyurem EX...

You can try this with Chandelure NVI. They work nicely together because you can switch to a different Chandelure to use Cursed Shadown While disrupting them by switching their attacker out of the active spot. You can either play it with Vileplume or tons of trainers.

I came up with a really cool deck idea that involves two zekrom ex(each with a double colourless)and two eels. The plan is like this you use zekrom ex's attack to discard 2 energy (prefferably elecktrick) and eels attach them both to another zekrom (ex),then slippery soles to switch and do 150 damage again! I know right!

@27th-wonder. Vanilluxe (nde) does not attack ,70-80 damage is tiny. Teeny tiny!

Or you could use Dodrio, which is a stage 1, or Switch, which is a trainer, and do the same thing, only better because your opponent doesn't choose what takes the damage.

I agree with iisnumber12. Vanniluxe/Chandelure/Kyurem is a very fun and good deck I have. It uses lots of trainers and is very easy to spread damage with Dodrio to retreat as well.
