Strategy:

Use Virizion EX to set up Genesect EX, and Drifblim as a back up attacker. This will likley be the deck i play at reginols or cities.

I have been thinking about the 2-2 drifblim line and the 2 enhanced hammer in the deck. Is this pokemon the best pokemon to tech in the deck or do you guys think. Is maybe a 2-2 raichu or 2-2 beatic line better, or maybe 4 hypnotoxic laser and 2 Virbank city gym. I have also thought about maybe dropping the enhanced hammers and psychic energy along with the drifblim line for a 2-2 pyroar line and 3 fire energy. So what tech do ou think is the best for a Vir/ Gen deck? It dosnt need to be one that I have listed it can be anything in the standard format.
 
I've been playing this deck for a while and tried several different techs. Driblim is a pretty good tech for most decks. However, there are going to be 2 decks that can run without Special energy that are still really strong. Fairy and Metal. That means you have 6 dead cards in your deck against those fairly even match ups. However it does help against a pretty bad match up with fighting decks. Also you are already running deoxys. So the tech mewtwo or Lucario dont plan on powering up anytime soon.

In my area Raichu is basically a dead card. As there are no electric weak pokemon that are played. The idea of Pyroar disgusts me, as it is the scariest match up for VirGen and pyroar wouldnt help against a fire deck.

I say now that i have never tried beartic. It just seems like its not worth it. With Darkrai, Fairy Garden, and float stones providing free retreat. Its not worth wasting slots on it. But it does hit for weakness against fire and fighting. Which is a huge problem for VirGen.

I found that PLB Abomasnow does everything that beartic does, only more reliable. It naturally hits just as hard or even harder than beartic is most scenarios. It may cost 1 more energy. But its not a huge deal when most Virgen decks run 13 ish energy. It also confuses the those that survive, OHKOs all of the safeguard pokemon with a muscle band, and OHKO's Pyroar with only 2 energy and a muscle band.

Another route you could try is M Manectric EX. It can OHKO pyroar, and with a muscle band it destroys all the 130 hp pokemon, aside from donphan. Without the need of Deoxys. The only thing is you need to G booster all the safeguard pokemon. Though that is also not a huge deal since you can get 2 energy back with M Manectric.

Drop the Drifblim for it. The M-Manectric EX line and the Drifblim line are both techs. If you would rather have a solid counter to Yveltal and a form of energy acceleration/recovery then play the Manectrics. If you want to be able to capitalize on your enhanced hammers or punish decks that run heavy special energy, run the balloons. I'd personally say Manectric over Drifblim, just because Mancetric has more of a use this format than Drifblim. The only decks that consistenly run special energy are Seismitoad (which ViriGen destroys already), Plasma (which isn't played to often), and Fighting. Manectric destroys Yveltal, which is one of the most popular decks right now, and lets you recover energy from G-Booster.
 
Yeah I know i would drop the drifblim line but what else should i drop for the spirit links and some lightning energy.

Right now I'm playing with 1 Mime and no evolution/non-ex cards. Flare Tools are infuriating, but Laser/Bank sets up some really nice math and pressure for you.

I had little/no success when I tried a 2/2 beartic line, but had a lot of success with a 1/1 drifblim line with 2 enhanced hammers.

Dedenne or Manec/M-Manec-EX are also viable to deal with Yveltal. Remember if you bench 2 non-ex cards you set your opponent up for a 6 prize game. This is why I chose to take the risk on a 1-1 Drifblim line. (one piece was prized once in the 6-9 games I played it in one tournament, another tournament I can't recall if it was prized)
 
enhanced hammers. probably 3 lightning for 3 grass. Probably drop deoxys and psychic energy as well.

7 grass 3 electric 4 plasma should be an appropriate amount

Yeah I was confused for a second because i started the thread. If I do go with the M manectric variant what do you guys think of adding a tropius as a non ex attacker.
