Volcanion. I don't have a big budget for changes, so no Shaymin. But, basically any other suggestions will be thought about. I think this deck sounds very fun, and I want to try it.

Pretty solid deck-list! Love the addition of the dragonite-EX just in case your opponent knocks your Volcanion-EX out.

A big fan of the 3 energy retrieval! Maybe some professor oak's letter could come handy?

I'd reckon throw in another Lysandre, it's awesome in this deck as energy are searchable for steam up without having to use of supporters.

While I like Flareon, I might be tempted to drop it in this deck as I am not sure it adds value to the premise? If you wanted an EX I might consider Blaziken. This allows you to pull energy out of the discard pile to power it up after the first two energy? Or maybe one Flareon/one Blaiken to pull dead energy.

In my deck I only run one Flareon actually haha. The second Flareon could potentially be a Hoopa-EX? Easily searchable through Ultra Ball and can search for the Volcanion-EX or Dragonite-EX for those nice clutch wins :D

Hey all,

I participated in a League Challenge over the weekend and I came in second losing to a Zygarde EX deck. Stupid move mid round was my undoing, I think if I hadn't made that stupid mistake I would have gone undefeated. Here is my list:

Pokemon: 10
4 - Volcanion (STS)
3 - Volcanion - EX (STS)
3 - Flareon EX (GEN)

Trainers:

1 - Delinquent
1 - Lysandre
2 - N
2 - Ninja Boy
1 - Olympia
3 - Professor Sycamore
2 - Shauna
1 - Skyla
2 - Dive Ball
3 - Energy Retrieval
2 - Fighting Fury Belt
2 - Max Elixir
2 - Professor's Letter
2 - Super Rod
2 - Switch
3 - Ultra Ball
2 - VS Seeker
2 - Weakness Policy
1 - Parallel City
2 - Rough Seas

Energy:
12 - Fire

Like I said, I came in second and probably the only thing I may change is dropping 1 Ninja Boy and 1 Energy Retrieval for and additional VS Seeker and N. Over all the deck plays really well. Really fast as well. I like to start second and hope for Volcanion as the starter and putting the Volcanion-EX on the bench to hit for at least 50 up to 110 if 3 Volcanion - EX's on the bench discarding energy. I thought about an Octillery line, but truthfully it moves so fast, I didn't need it. The energy works out great and it constantly being rotated due to Volcanion. I can use Volcanion EX Steam Up ability to discard energy to hit for 50,80, or 110 with 1 energy on Volcanion and then those 2 energy get put in Flareon- EX on benches. Flareon is the main attacker, but in certain cases Volcanion had to hit for 100 and I either pulled a switch, or Olympia came in hand as well. Parallel City is mainly for Rayquaza, but it did come in handy at times to reduce hits by opponent. Having only 3 benched really didn't hurt me in that way. I had to include Weakness Policy to help against any water deck. Saved my butt a couple of times. Ninja boy only came in handy once to pull off the win, by pulling out a Volcanion in exchange for Flareon- EX to hit for more and KO the opposing pokemon. I destroyed a grass Sceptile/Venusaur deck and psychic Mew/MewTwo EX. It was fun and I love how fast I can set up.

Looking back, I don't have a Super Rod.
Would
-1 Trainers Mail
-1 Olympia
or -1 Switch be the best choice?
Or is Dragonite good enough? I think I'll *switch* switch for Super Rod.

i've been testing my deck with flareon ex and in the end excluded it
i find it not necessary, as for late game I just use volcanion ex as main attacker
only deck which gives me problem is greninja break, but I'm still undecided should I include weakness policy or not

I would add one more stadion, maybe scorched earth

A few comments for your consideration:
  • Should your 1 Lysandre ever be prized, you will be at a disadvantage till you can get it. IMO, you should run another 1 (for -1 Trainer's Mail).
  • Why no Super Rod or Sacred Ash? Should an opponent limit your bench to just 3 with Parallel City, your recovery time could be quite slow (if at all). IMO, you should run 1 Super rod or Sacred Ash (for -1 Trainer's Mail).
...only deck which gives me problem is greninja break, ...
Have you yet tested against Mewtwo-Garbodor, Darkrai-Garbodor, Yveltal-Garbodor and Volcanion (mirror match can be tough too)??? All of these decks have favorable match-ups against Volcanion decks.

I think Brock's Grit would help more since you're getting double the stuff back plus you can reuse it with VS Seeker

I ran a Brock's in my online version and found that I rarely used it. Super Rod did much better even though I may have used it only once. Volcanion gets the energy back really fast.

Darkrai-Garbodor, Yveltal-Garbodor - maybe they do have favorable match-ups, but in my experience I didn't have trouble with them
Volcanion - I have more then 85% win when facing mirror deck, maybe I'm just lucky :)
Mewtwo-Garbodor - yep, you are right about this one, I'm roughly on 50-50 with them. Hate that mewtwo :D

I forgot to write in my last post - try adding Faded town - I actually won few matches just couse I had that stadium
