Take a look at Wailord from Triumphant:

Ok, so I currently run the Healix Prime tank deck, and I must say, it works VERY well. But when I look at this creature, boasting a magnificent 180HP, (200HP with Expert Belt) I start to wonder, do we have another tank candidate on our hands? Because of Wailord's 180 HP, I would assume that Swallow Up would be hitting for 100 most always, for only four energies, compared to Steelix Prime's 5 for Gaia Crush. Some great ways to heal damage off Wailord would be, basically, the exact same techs as Steelix: Blissey Platinum, Nidoqueen, Life Herbs, Poke Healer+, Moo Moo Milk (and PLUS, Wailord's first attack is practically a Moo Moo Milk in itself).

The biggest issues I see here are the following:
1. No special metal energies, like Steelix has, for added defense. Wailord may have to rely on Defenders instead?

2. Skarmory UD really helps in getting Steelix set up. I know there are a few water types that would help Wailord, but I believe they're all stage 2s. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because if there was a Basic Pokemon that could attach (or even move) water energies, this could change everything.

3. Steelix's pokebody keeps it from being statused, which is also big.

I know that Steelix is still the most practical tank deck to run, but I thought I would try to have a little fun, mix things up a bit, and see how well a Wailord tank deck can do. If you guys have any suggestions for cards to add, techs, anything of the sort, let's see what we can come up with!

Thanks.

EDIT:

Here's the deck list I've created, with the help of your advice. I will be trying it at my local League once Cities wraps up..

3-2-3 Feraligatr Prime
4-4 Wailord Triumphant (SV Wailmers)
2-2 Blissey Platinum (HGSS Chansey)
2 Spiritomb
2 Uxie (LA)

4 Bebe's Search
2 BTS
2 Expert Belt
2 Cynthia's Feelings
1 Interviewer's Questions
3 Seeker
3 Super Scoop-Up
2 Warp Point
1 Pokemon Collector

16 Water Energy

Spiritomb start for obvious reasons. Get Wailmer and Totodile down on the bench early. Once you get to Feraligatr and Wailord, it's all about getting energies. Interviewer's Questions is a good idea, but I kinda like sending a Wailmer/Wailord out there to tank and die to use Cynthia's Feelings as an extra method of card draw and energy gain. I don't have access to an Uxie X or a Floatzel GL X, or I would consider those. I've playtested this a lot on Redshark, and once Wailord gets fully energized, he takes out at least two pokemon every time. Are there any cards out there (hopefully, a trainer/supporter) that returns all the energies from my active to my hand? For instance, if I know I'm about to lose a fully-energized Wailord, take his energies and ready another one to come in once he dies? Just a thought.

As someone who runs Steelix Prime, I thought this would be easy: just swap out the Pokemon and you have the same deck, but with Wailord's "Moo Moo Milk" attack, accompanied with Warp Points, Seekers, and Scoop Ups, all those healing cards aren't really needed.

Thoughts? Thanks for all the help.

I think Steelix Prime will always be better (Energy Stream, Special Metals, Scizor Prime side attacker, Skarmory UD, etc.), but it's a good card nonetheless. Maybe try adding Floatzel UL as it's only another Stage one. Although I'd still use Feraligatr, as it's another side attacker because it has Grass Weakness, not Lightning.

Definitely would add Feraligatr as a secondary to get the enrgy on quickly. I think there's a card that lets you move energy as much as you like between water pokémon, but I can't think of it off the top of my head. I think this wouldn't be as good as steelix for the reasons already said, but it has some potential.

@Tyraniking
floatzel UL is completely useless in this deck

feraligatr is good, and prefered choice. i have already made a wailord tank deck.
i added magnezone for draw power. it may be slow to set up, but wailmers have 90hp, so its a great tank basic starter, and if you really need to, you can evolve to wailord just for the extra hp.
i usually let the first one die off as i setup. this allows to me use twins for an even faster setup. but once set up, wailord is unstoppable

add in moo moo milks, life herbs and junkarms to get those healing trainers back.
youll be back to full health almost every turn and be a hard hitter doing 120dmg with belt.

then, i like to finish off with magnezone prime and give the opponent a finishing KO of 600 dmg. really rubs it in their face ^_^

Indeed, running Wailord without Feraligatr's rain would be junk. Steelix has the ability of pulling the energy on himself, Wailord does not.
I would max out Super Scoop Up's and Seekers. If a Wailord gets too damaged to continue, SSU it or Warp Point and follow up with Seeker. Since nothing popular in the format OHKO's it, this should cause plenty of frustration. I'd also set up behind a Spiritomb and consider Dawn Stadium as stadium of choice.

We also have a popular weakness problem and need of a stage 2 and pretty good hand advantage to go anywhere. Seems good when it works. It’s like steelix [which should only run 1-1 scizor and only if you run lucian] with less benefits and more HP.

add in a magnezone for better draw power.
wailmers and wailords give u a nice meat shield for at least 3-4 turns, allowing ample time to setup your drawpower and gatr prime

This comes to lots and lots of lines. 2 stage 2s, a stage 1, and a basic plus its lv. x. Wow. Might work, but it'd be very very clunky.

Hm? I don't follow...
2 Stage 2s:
Magnezone
Feraligatr
1 Stage 1:
Wailord
Basic and Lv.X:
Floatzel GL Lv.X

Is what was mentioned, and what I was referring to...

Good idea, but Steelix IS better. Because -40 damage with a 150 HP tank is better than 200 HP non -damage. Also SP can be all like TOXIC FANG! And you're screwed. But it still is a good idea. And Energy Stream is just a great attack. So, you could try making it, but ultimately Steelix would outclass it.

Steelix's problem is that it tends to be hard to energize him. This is a problem that Wailord can fix. Wailord can also abuse SSU and Seeker, this is something that it manages to beat Steelix in. Therefore, you should focus on those things.
I'd suggest the following lines:
3-2-3 Feraligatr (2 prime, 1 HGSS. That one can help you put 130 HP stuff in 110HP range, which means a belted Wailord will KO)
4-4 Wailord
2-1 Uxie
4 Spiritomb?
1/2 Unown Q

3/4 Warp Point
4 SSU
4 Seeker

The rest would be up to the deckbuilder's preference.

Is Spiritomb the best starter for this deck? I feel like Sableye's Impersonate would help a lot with so many lines if you used a Collector or 4.

ive been dreaming of building this deck for a while now. i just love the idea of having a beast with 200 max hp and swallow up. almost has to be played with gatr. and i never thought about it until now but magnezone would be a good tech here as well.
a thought just hit me. what if you restored wailord with garchomp lvx and added snowpoint and expert belt...
wooo-weeee thats a 220 hp basic with 3 energy attached already and hitting everything else for 120.

@ogeray: Magnezone Prime is impractical for draw power in most decks. Uxie far outperforms it, as it can easily be searched for (Collector), and due to cards like Seeker and itself it can be easily reused.
2 Uxie in a deck is great, and if you have enough search power in general for the rest of your deck, I doubt you will need any more than two.

@Tyraniking: Floatzel UL in Blastoise means you don't have to run Feraligatr at all; it makes the deck a lot faster. (Floatzel is a stage 1 with free retreat, and as long as you have 1 out you're basically accomplishing a Hydro Launcher every turn regardless. And it doesn't fail to Reversal either.)

@silenth: watch out for them machamp then, they'll mess you up good.

Speaking of Stadiums, Dawn Stadium is best run for this deck; that way you don't need to worry about Special Conditions affecting you (and it's also a small healing measure), so it has protection similar to Steelix Prime's Perfect Metal.

the problem with floatzel is he can only attach 1 a turn and its onto himself. so you then need to move them around. also he doest provide for much of a secondary attacker. then theres the 80 hp and electric weakness so hes probably more of a liability than gatr prime.
