I have a question about what counts as "attached". Floatzel GL Lv Xs water rescue says, if a {W}pokemon is knocked out return it and all cards attached from your discard pile to hand. Do evolutions count as attached? For example, if my Empoleon with 3{W} energy attached gets ko'd, do I only return the Empoleon and energy, or do the Piplup and Prinplup also get returned?

You return everything including evolutions,energy,tools,etc
Right, a better way to see the wording would be as "all cards under" instead of all cards attached. So yes everything goes back.
Yep, the energies go back also. Since they're attached to the pokemon who is knocked out, they count.
