RE: Wednesday, 3/14, Four New Names

Just saw the list. Wonder how it was leaked... =/
Anyway, the rest of the names are alright. I like how Leafia and Glacia became Leafeon and Glacieon so we get that consistant 'eon'. The Eeveelutions never follwed a much of a pattern in Japan (i.e. Thunders, Showers, Booster, Blacky, Eifie, Leafia, Glacia) and so I like it how they at least kept the tradition going over here.
Hey! where are those Shiny-thing locations you promised?
According to Bulbapedia this week, there are five Pokémon whose names end in -eon that are not evolutions of Eevee - Charmeleon, Kecleon, Finneon, Lumineon and Empoleon.

How is it low of me not to credit a source I did not use? Everyone else is crediting Serebii and not Pokexperto, even though they always have the names up before Serebii, and since I actually used Pokexperto, that is my source. And I am never going to credit or use Serebii, especially since last summer, everytime Bangiras would translate CoroCoro, he would copy the info, even WITH our mistakes, and post them as his own. At least I do not copy/steal anything he puts up.
Hmm. That is actually a decent explanation, something few webmasters ever offer. I respect that. Just one thought: People using and referring to those translations, you would want them to cite you, instead of Serebii, no matter where they read it, right? So why not pay the same courtesy, since they clearly both had the names and both sides have admitted to having an arrangement in place. I suppose if Pokexperto really posted first every time, that is important, but still, be the bigger man.

Yes, it is their fault. My laptop's $500 plan covers water damage. They will not fix it because they are going out of business and are refusing to do anything. And it's not abuse. I use my laptop everyday, both at school, home, and other places. In fact, you could say I live with my laptop (unfortunately). Accidents are bound to happen at any time - no one is immune, unless they just keep it in one place all the time.
*sticks out tongue*
Well, sleeping with it and tossing it to the floor is pretty dang abusive, dude. But, yeah, if you paid the money, you are right, it IS their responsibility. Your luck just sucks, you have way more than a normal person’s number of laptop accidents, and the insurance you paid for is yielding nothing. I really recommend Best Buy. They are kind of a pain to deal with, but, data recovery is only a few hundred( used to be free) and I have had 3 or full 4 replacements on the laptop I bought after the one I wrecked in college, the first several cost me nothing, the last one I only spent a few hundred for a new service plan. And, the replacements are any model on the shelves up to the price you paid for the original, so as technology gets cheaper, I have had better and better ones each time, plus when you don’t use the full value they give you the difference as a BB gift card! And they won’t go out of business any time soon.

Pachirisu - Why didn't they change the japanese name? What the heck is "Pachirisu" supposed to mean? I mean, you could've done "Squirrelectron" or something...
Agreed. I hate this.

Burmy - What the heck is this supposed to mean?
Burmy, the Bagworm Pokémon.
Tomokazu Komiya said:
Vespiqueen - Sounds dangerous.... What was wrong with Beequeen?
“Vespi-” refers to taxonomical family of wasps. I like.
Tomokazu Komiya said:
Cherubi - I don't get it.
Cherubi and its evolution Cherrim are derived from cherry( obviously), cherry blossoms, and the word cherub as well as its plural cherubim. Look it up if you don’t know what it means.
Tomokazu Komiya said:
Ambipom - Eh, could've been worse.
Really? I think it’s brilliant. All together now... “Aipom evolved into Ambipom!”
The design on the other hand, looks like a seedy Teletubby on speed.
Tomokazu Komiya said:
Abomasnow - What a terrible name. They could've done "Christmasnow" or something....
Um, hello, religious holiday? In a Nintendo game? You have GOT to be kidding. Amazed the anime even has holiday episodes. Nevermind the games. I would have called it Peakold or something tho. Blizzeti... awesome.
Tomokazu Komiya said:
Lickilicky - You either love it or hate it. I.... love it. (Will anyone EVER take this Pokémon seriously now?)
I hate it. It sounds sexual, and perverted at that. Just imagine the Lickitung from the anime saying it.
Tomokazu Komiya said:
Probopass - Awesome... I don't even know what it means, but awesome....
Look up “proboscis”.

Serebii(, who has been working with in partnership Pokexperto, and whom, depite his being an asshole, I think it was in extremely poor taste of you to not credit alongside them,) has suggested that they are all real, and that he was given the same names by his source, but advised not to reveal them so quickly or so soon. Accordingly, he has posted a list of all 107 new names by National number.
wow, bashing someone because they are just on a different forum.
http://www.serebiiforums.com/showthread.php?t=203789
There's his side of the story. He even mentions he didn't want to reveal all the names at once, and how he decided to credit pokexperto even though there was something happening behind the curtains between them. Don't know if I can believe all of this, but at least this explanation on his forum doesn't have him acting like a 10 year old and actually has him talk maturely and respectively. I've been on many forums, and nobody whose forum I've been on should be bashed. anyone remember that these forums weren't meant for catfights, but for fun?
Um, hello, read again. I was actually criticizing WPM( who had the courtesy to respond reasonably, something you will virtually NEVER see from Merrick). The “Joe is an asshole” thing was just incidental. I
would give constructive criticism on his own forum, but it has a tendency to be ignored or even disappear, often along with the users who voiced it.
I have said it before and I will say it again: the kid is a jerk. The site is crappy. But I do acknowledge that he has accurate information the earliest quite often, and accordingly, it is the first Pokéresource I check every day.
Mature? I will admit, the post looks pretty good, and I do feel bad that he was put in a tough situation, but still, the way he said it, you would think the megaleak forum post was made just to spite him and make his life harder! How self-centered can the boy get?
Anyway, if you look again, he decided to credit them not out of generosity but out of fear. They were essentially blackmailing him using his irrational fear that if
they leaked the names, his source at Nintendo would punish
him. I hope Nintendo isn’t that stupid.
What Melkor did was really ridiculous, and that kind of greed and glory-grabbing is disgusting. But I am sure he took pleasure in it for another reason, too: a lot of Pokésitemasters dislike Serebii. His information is great, sure. A lot of them are probably just jealous. But honestly, the site looks and works like hell. The writing is absolutely worthless. So many webmasters put so much effort into what they produce, and Joe Merrick gets all the glory despite the fact that he can’t properly spell, design, or code to save his life.
Even Eevee, who ripped the
D/
P sprites used in the new list, says he finds the kid annoying and selfish and insincere, and if you look above, you can see WPM’s report of some of his shadier actions.
I feel like I should have been building to a conclusion, but I don’t have one. In short: Serebii is a great reporter, but a lousy writer/journalist/webmaster/person, and I would tell him so if I thought it would get me anything except banned from his site for life.( Did I mention how much I value his info?)

I'm bothered by the hyphen in Porygon-Z, but I guess it was the only way that name would work.
I like it fine, having Porygon2 jammed together like that always bothered me, and Z-axis is a hyphenated term anyway.

I don't see why the first u was taken out of Aruseus. Arceus sounds like "arses", unless I'm saying it wrong.
Um, actually, the official romanization in Japan was “Arseus”... As you may be aware, Japanese words don’t really have two consonant sounds together except when the first is
n. So the first u in the name would have been barely pronounced anyway, and in that sense, it would be Aruseusu.
Besides, American localization team, they probably weren’t thinking of “arses” since “arse” isn’t even a word here. You are bound to be one of very few people in the country to think of that.
