Event Week 1 Spring 2015 Regionals Results

Seattle, WA Regionals

Chase Moloney and Tristen Cox played Yveltal/Seismitoad/Archeops and Fighting/Crobat respectively. I believe Elijah Covitz played Flareon, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

 

[My Little Keldeo]

I used a Yveltal EX deck at regionals and performed very well. If I had won my last round, (ended in a tie and if I had more time I would have won) I had a chance at Top 8'ing with a 6-2 record but ties happen and I only made top 32. At MA, I thought it was a good play.

My Little Keldeo, don't most decks have bad match ups against toad? Flareon does after the toad player uses trump and Quaking Punch but that still made Top 8. I don't think there was a bad play. It also depends on who you face. I only played against one toad and no eggs.

Exeggutor has always had a positive Toad matchup, as it cuts them off from their draw power and some of their disruption cards while only giving up one prize. Also, the main straight Seismitoad deck played these days (as opposed to a supplement in Yveltal or Big Basics) is Toad/ Bats, which outright loses to V/G. V/G and Eggs were out in droves at MA regionals, so it's not surprisingly that Seismitaod was a little afraid to show. That said, Flareon and other decks with Toad problems don't have to deal with it as much. I only faced one Toad/Bats during the whole event, and I ended up tying. However, there are counters to Toad out there now that are effective such as Aegislash, etc.
