RE: Werewolf XX: Seleno City - Night 0 ends Jan 2 at 9 PM EST
Inspector Harold Nye set the case files down onto with a thud. He ran his fingers through his greying hair, and pushed down the pager button on his desk.
"Charlene, send me one of the rookie cops, I'm going to need an extra man for this job." He let go of the button, and slumped back into his chair, sorting over the facts in his mind while he waited for his soon-to-be-partner to arrive. A couple minutes later, the office door opened, and a young cop made his way to Nye's desk, taking a seat in front.
"Good morning, Inspector," he said.
"I wouldn't exactly call it that, Shawn," Nye replied. "I called you up here because I'm going to need some help with a case." He leafed through the papers of the case files, pulling out a page with a photograph paper clipped to the top. "There was a murder some time last night, outside of the Brighton Hotel. A bellboy, twenty-eight years of age, who was out in the alley. The manager went out to check to see where he was. He found him alright." Nye held up the photo, detailing a grisly scene. The man's body was torn open, and the ground beneath him was a crimson red.
The cop's face paled slightly, but he kept it cool. "So this seems straightforward enough. Do we have any leads? Was this guy caught up in some foul play, or what?"
"Not exactly. This is where it get's serious." The inspector took a moment to breathe. "The manager, when he found the body, saw the perpetrator running from the crime scene. He swears on his life that it was a werewolf who killed his employee."
"A werewolf? You've gotta be kidding me. Was it in league with a leprechaun too?"
"Officer Jackson," Nye said sternly, "this is no joking matter. Are you familiar with Case 14-W?"
"What, you mean the Canton Falls case? The one where the werewolves invaded a town in the middle of nowhere? The one that veterans like to mess with new recruits about?"
"Jackson, whether you choose to believe it or not, the incidents that took place at Canton Falls are all genuine. A lot of good people died there. The few that survived only barely made it. And if there's a repeat of that here, the results could be disastrous. We need to stop this before it starts."
"So... where do we even begin our investigation?" asked Officer Jackson.
"We won't be starting that just yet," the aging inspector replied. "First things first, we need to shut this city down." He held down the pager once again. "Charlene, get me on a line with the mayor. This is urgent."

Within the next two hours, the police department had shut down all roads leading in and out of the city on the mayor's orders. Many of the panicked citizens turned to the news channel to try and find out what was going on.
"Good morning everyone, this is Melissa Stone reporting for Seleno News," the newscaster announced. "Town crier." After that, it just went to the weather.
Even more confused after the news, many of the unsettled people of the city made their way to City Hall to demand an answer. There, on the steps, they found the mayor awaiting them, along with a few members of the police department.
"My dear friends, the people of Seleno City," boomed the mayor through a loudspeaker. "We are in the midst of the biggest crisis our fair city has ever experienced. As I speak now, this city has been infiltrated! Not by criminals or foreign spies, but by werewolves." With the word werewolves, a number of gasps came from the audience. People began shouting and anxiously talking amongst themselves. "Quiet down, quiet down," reiterated the mayor. "I have been informed by Inspector Nye here, of the police department, that these creatures are ruthless. They will not hesitate to kill, and can blend in easily with the crowds. Any one of you could be a werewolf. Your friend, your family member, the person standing right next to you. This is why we need your utmost cooperation. If you suspect anyone to be acting strangely that could be a werewolf, I encourage you to let us know. We do not have many leads to go off of, and so I've made the
executive decision to sentence anyone to death with a majority consensus of the people. They will be hung swiftly, and painlessly." He motioned to his right, where a gallows with a noose hanging down was located. Once more, people began to shout in protest.
"You can't tell us what to do!"
"Think of the innocent lives that will be lost!"
"This is madness, we can solve this without a witch hunt!"
"ENOUGH," the mayor shouted. "We are doing this my way, and my way only. Is that clear? If we don't take the initiative, then we'll all be dead within days." He cleared his throat. "I encourage you all to make the right decisions. And if anyone thinks to try and cheat their way out of the lynchings, there will be grave consequences," he said, gesturing to a couple of armed police officers to the side of him. "It's up to all of you now."

Day 1 has begun, and will end at 4:00 PM EST, Friday January 10. A minimum of 17 votes are needed for a majority lynch.
