So I'm assuming everybody knows about the banning of foreign language cards next season.
But what about Basic Energy cards? On Go-Pokemon.com they didn't have any exceptions to the upcoming rule, but there is no text on Basic Energy cards that would need translating. I sure hope they don't ban basic Japanese Energy because they look way cooler than our energy cards. I don't care about any of the other Japanese cards, but I'm curious as to your interpretation of my dilemma.
 
I'd think they'd be fine I mean they're JUST ENERGYS! Who cares if they're basic i'd probably be OK if they're special maybe not...

I know for a fact that there shouldn't be a problem. This is because at my States Tournament I was playing against someone that played down a Japanese Energy and I kidded around with him saying I want a translation. When a judge passed by we joked around with him too and he actually said that no translation was needed because there was no Japanese text to translate.
 
Lunar Wing - yeah that's what I thought but the website says no foreign cards. I know they're all okay until next season, but I hope they still think that way when it comes time.
 
Tough luck guys. You can't use ANY. JAPANESE. CARD. AT. ALL.
That includes Energy. I double-checked and well, they're Japanese, and thus banned.
 
No means no. Let's face it, the difference isn't that big, and there's no sense in them saying "we'll let you keep your energies". They're out, and Lunar Wing's judge is a moron.
 
Well I think the big issue is that they banned all Japanese cards, they couldn't just say all cards with text, they had to ban them all.
I wonder if Basic any other Foreign Language will get the same...if there's actually any difference.
 
Yup. I can't play Dutch energy from the Base Sets anymore (They say Energie instead of Energy). That blows for me given how all my energy is like that.

Why in the world is that judge a moron? Mind elaborating?
 
vilebaseball, you do know the ban applies to NEXT SEASON. Foreign cards are still allowed THIS SEASON and don't expect us to believe that Lunar's incident happened next season.
