Jeeze, I left Pokemon around Platinum and now I come back, it seems soooo terrible. The new LEGEND sets are ruining the game. I just wanted to see if there is a general consensus that Pokemon is headed towards the wrong direction. Just mention whether or not you agree or not, and why? Who knows, you may even be able to open my eyes and become open to the new concepts.

actually I like the new direction its heading, its heading back into a slower format just like it was in the base set. I'm a base set player, so I like what I'm seeing.

The only thing is that it isn't going to get that much slower. We'll still have Rare Candy. We'll still have DCE. Cards which rule the meta right now (Jumpluff and Donphan Prime) should still be ruling. Until Luxray GL Lv.X rotates out or something better than it arrives, I don't think the format's speed is going to change any time soon.

It's not going to become slower, but it's not going to be like if you're slow you autolose. Like right now, PLOX and Cursegar wouldn't exist without Spiritomb. So now, we have good slow cards like Raicune Legend.

LEGENDS sets aren't ruining pokemon. If anything, they're doing fine. Rare Candy and DCE was a great addition, and Donphan/Jumpluff are great cards. All of these were introduced or reinstated in LEGEND sets. I like the pace were at.

I think the Legend block has been a step in the right direction. The DP and Platinum blocks were the recent downward spirals, in my opinion. The power creep was huge, the SP engine wasn't the best idea PCL has ever came up with and Claydol, Uxie, BTS and other such cards just the game ridiculously quick paced compared to other points in it's life. Legend has been absolutely great so far.

In my opinion, the format is going to be whacked out for a while, and then the rotation will happen, and then everything will make sense. They're trying to combat "power creep", so for a little bit all of the new cards seem really bad, but it will all click in to place eventually. Still, Bill being supporter-ed is pretty terribad.

So Claydol didn't do anything to the format?

Claydol was a consistent draw card, but Uxie really made the Format a lot faster since it's not a Stage 1.

dmaster out.

Not every deck uses Claydol, but every deck uses Uxie(except charizard usually). Also, I NEVER said Claydol didn't do anything to the format. In fact, I only said one word.

I love how the "good old days" were slow.

Go first. Open Hitmonchan. Attach Fighting. Attach PlusPower. Computer Search for a PlusPower. Oak for 7. Bill for 2. Attach 2 more PlusPower. Swing for game.

I really don't understand how the old days were super slow. =\

That's because you, like many other noobs, think Pokemon started with the 4th generation, and forget it has been running for years now.

HGSS set Pokemon to the right direction.

^It was because most cards required a heck of a lot of energy to do minimum damage.

Right. It was really 'slower' due to the lower energy-damage ratios and lack of cards to break evolution rules. Yeah, I remember Pokemon Breeder, but it was a more balanced card than things like Rare Candy or BTS.

I like the new stuff, although not consisting of epic awesomesauce of win material, they take everything back a step, and I like that. (and I'm a special person, so if I like it, it must be good) It might not go from t1 wins to t964, but it's gonna let slower decks take their time.
