what is the best counter on water attackers
such as lanturn prime balstoise UL
if your running a donphan prime deck?

the thing is. not all water decks have lightning weakness. they also have grass weakness. and even some have metal weakness (ice types)

I know...
Countering water is pretty hard lol. Just see what most of your opponents' run (say if they run Feraligatr Prime, use a Grass tech).

Well there's always things like Serperior that have resistance to water, but I'm not sure how well a pokemon like that would work in Donphan.

im running donphan /serperior deck
the only counter i can make to blastoise and lanturn prime is unmbreon ud

Serperior may be your best bet. you can always revenge KO lanturn prime though.

I think an unexpected water tech will be Mamoswine, but you probably will not run into it, so teching in a steel type isn't a good idea.

get lost remover.. and plenty of it. most lanturn/blastoise users get a DCE onto them in order to attack faster. so just lost remover the DCE to slow them down, or at least make it hurt more when their blastoise gets KO'd and still has 2 water energies on it. they'll eventually run out of water energy. just a thought.

it may just be one of those very bad matchups that you won't be able to win once they're setup. unless there is a new card in the Red collection that we haven't seen that deals with the weakness issue.

in donphan/serperior I'd run zekrom. like someone else said, mamoswine is the only surprise water that you'd need steel for, and it's not nearly good enough to worry about in the meta. so the others are weak to grass and electric, and you already have serperior to cover the grass ones, and zekrom can be electric without having to have electric energies in your deck. blastoise will do 100 to zekrom but then zekrom would take out blastoise no problem after that, or at least get him weak enough to take him out with donphan next turn. throw plus power in there for OHKO or a lost remover to stall to not get shot would work.

Honestly, I'd first say to find the weakness of the card that you will be facing the most, and get a tech against that.
