RE: What makes this game so intreasting?
In my opinion, there are many things that make this game enjoyable and new to us. It's not only the social aspect of it, which is a big plus, because every time we go to league or a Battle Roads or whatever, we see our friend(s) or meet new friend(s).
Another thing that keeps this game fresh is new sets being rotated in and out. This always introduces some new aspect to the game that we haven't seen before (Like Absol G Lv.X being able to send cards straight to the lost zone, or Flygon Lv.X being able to deck your opponent easier than ever before). Now with the introduction of HeartGold/SoulSilver, even more never-before-seen mechanics will be introduced, giving an even fresher feel to the game.
The game also sparks creativity in both young and older minds. It allows them to interact in a way they would not be able to do so otherwise in the real world. It's a good bonding time for families (if you all play), or just with your friends. I know that when I was younger, every weekend and weeknight, me and a few of my friends would get all or cards together and start trading and building decks and battling each other to see who had the strongest deck. Even after a few years, that is probably one of the few things that have changed in this game. Thankfully, it's a good thing, because even today I find myself making new combos and building decks and trading with my team members, who are also some of my closest friends.
Really, the only thing that's not to like about this game sometimes is either reportedly biased judges (although I have never met one myself), or players with bad sportsmanship. These are things we cannot change, and unless we want to give up a game we ALL love, and give up our friends we have made after playing this game, then we shouldn't let it get to us as much as we have.
