If you get the Magby out before Goth has any energy on it, then it doesn't matter how many Zekrom you have benched, just as long as you do have one. They can Catcher it, but they can't KO it without 5 energy.

Of course, this raises the question of whether or not it was really worth your time. If the active has no energy, they're probably building a benched one that does.

Still, though, Magby is a major pain for Goth to deal with.

Actually, a Gothitelle can have 3 energy on it, but not ko Zekrom, meaning only 1 Zekrom must be set up.

I was assuming Zekrom would Bolt Strike to KO the first Gothitelle. Why wouldn't it?

What do you mean?

I'm saying this. Magby burns a Gothitelle with 2 energy. Gothitelle attachs, ko's Magby, Zekrom kos Gothitelle (example).

I meant that what I would do if I was a Gothitelle player against Magby, I would charge a benched Gothitelle first. If Magby comes up, burns my active Gothitelle, and Zekrom Bolt Strikes it, I can promote the benched Gothitelle and KO Zekrom. If you don't go for my active Gothitelle, I'll charge the benched one first, then start to charge my active. Also, most Gothitelle run Switch, so that makes Magby somewhat less useful.

It doesn't matter. What's important is that I have one Gothitelle active, and a Gothita/Gothotoria benched so I can get some energy on it. It doesn't matter when I get the 2nd Gothitelle, as long as I get it the turn after your burn me (ideally) or the turn after you KO me.

A T2 Gothitelle is very common. After you give me Twins access, it's not hard to get another one. Especially since I can technically not even try to get Reuniclus out until the 2nd Gothitelle is active and Magby is gone. Either way, you're 2HKOing. It helps to pressure them to put Magby out early, though.

Exactly. Don't give Twins access until it means knocking out a Gothitelle.

And what do you mean I'm 2hkoing? Burn and Bolt Strike make a ohko.

Right. How many turns does it take to burn me and then use Bolt Strike? 2... lol.

I can get the first Gothitelle out pretty easily without Twins; and I'll have access to Twins for the 2nd one unless I don't draw it.

Also, the burn damage is not a guarantee.

It is not a guarentee but 3/4 times Gothitelle will be burned. Nobody said Magby is perfect, but it is the best way to ko Goth.

How did we even get on this conversation?

This kind of thread will inevitably end up as a discussion of the overall metagame. That's basically what the title reads. The metagame is what will be popular at Regionals. That discussion of the metagame will focus in on certain decks or matchups at times, since those small things can have a huge impact on the overall format.

But, this kind of thread is not meant to discuss which posts go where. Back on topic, guys!

google decks have been gaining in popularity in my meta. I wouldn't be surprised to see them at regionals. It is a fun and different way to play the game. But it is much slower than the other decks so I am not sure how effective they will be when against the clock.

my vote is the best b/c i know what deck actually won

so Magneboar will win in seniors
