Lately I have been trying to improve the Art sections of this forum any way I could. Rather than continuing to do so with only my own idea, I'd like to hear from other members as well.

What do you like to come to the Creative Works Forum for?
What would you like to see more of here?
Are you a graphic artist or do graphics yourself?
Did you ever participate in graphic competitions held here, if so which?
Do you own a shop in Slateport Market?
Do you think that the start of MDRedux has had a positive or negative effect?
If you could change one thing about this section, what would it be?

I'd greatly appreciate to see your responses, so that any future plans I have keeps this in mind

What do you like to come to the Creative Works Forum for? For graphics, and to provide people graphics here.
What would you like to see more of here? Wallpapers
Are you a graphic artist or do graphics yourself? Graphics
Did you ever participate in graphic competitions held here, if so which? No, to busy
Do you own a shop in Celadon Market? First of all, it is Slateport Market. And yes, I do.
Do you think that the start of MDRedux has had a positive or negative effect? It's a positive. It's nice to have a graphics group.
If you could change one thing about this section, what would it be? N/A

Did we ever have a Celadon market, I can't help but to remember one lol. Thank you for your input and correction.

We did have a Celedon Market, but it was later renamed to Slateport Market when there was a forum reconstruction.

Ooh questionnaire~

Oh but the topic doesn't pertain to me as graphic design is outside my area of specialisation.

What do you like to come to the Creative Works Forum for? To display my work as well as fill requests and give CnC
What would you like to see more of here? Active members. Right now we have only a small GFX group and I believe with such a large community we can get some more members into GFX
Are you a graphic artist or do graphics yourself? Yiiiius
Did you ever participate in graphic competitions held here, if so which? Hope to contend in the sotw but I am lacking inspiration and I host the GFX Showdown
Do you own a shop in Slateport Market? Yiuss the community shop
Do you think that the start of MDRedux has had a positive or negative effect? Positive for obvious reasons in creating a rather active thread designed specifically for GFXing
If you could change one thing about this section, what would it be? Erm... Can't think of any tbh except maybe a few Subsections in Lilycove for GFX Resources,Tutorials, General Discussion and of course the main section being the galleries etc.

Survey time!

What do you like to come to the Creative Works Forum for? I come usually to comment/critique other's literary works as well as post my own fan-fics and short stories, as well as commenting on artwork and other works in the other forums.

What would you like to see more of here? In Lilycove? I can't complain about a lack of anything, tbh. We have a nice balance of members of the GFX community and artists. Although a new subforum/forum for the GFX community would be killer, as it would be a less cluttered place for the GFX designers to showcase their work and put up renders/other resources for grabs. That way, they can do their thing in one forum, while the illustrators/traditional artists are free to do their thing in their own, less cluttered forum. I'm all for organization xP

Are you a graphic artist or do graphics yourself? I am somewhat- I've been working on sigs/avys and I hope to improve. The increase in activity in the GFX community has been a real help and inspiration to my desire to return to working on renders, banners, etc, and to improve overall.

Did you ever participate in graphic competitions held here, if so which? Nahh, but once I improve to a point where I believe I'm ready to put my work to the test, I'll give it a shot.

Do you own a shop in Slateport Market? Not anymore. I saw that I needed a lot of improvement. Again, once I do reach a certain level of mastery in that, I plan on opening up a new shop.

Do you think that the start of MDRedux has had a positive or negative effect? I think it's had an extremely positive effect. Not only has it increased activity in this forum, it's also inspired members new to this area of art to become talented designers as well.

If you could change one thing about this section, what would it be? Like I said, I'd make a sub-forum dedicated to the graphic designing community so they are free to do their thing while the more traditional artists are free to showcase work and put up resources for grabs in their own, less cluttered forum as well.

I hope my answers helped! I appreciate everything you've been doing to improve this forum, Lil' Sparks. It's been very sucessful in terms of activity in this forum. I can't wait to see what you have in store next.

What do you like to come to the Creative Works Forum for?
Mostly Banners and Avatars, it would be cool to take this to a new level, for example 3D banners and avatars! There was a shop owner who did this, but the shop was closed, but we need more of this, or even animated banners and avatars!

@Extreme Pokemon Fan: It is possible to do animated banners and avatars in Gimp and Photoshop, but it isn't done much due to the fact that animation in Gimp/Photoshop results in poor-quality banners. As for 3D text, I think it is possible to do in PS/Gimp, but there is another program that can do it (Cinema 4D), and I don't believe anyone on Pokebeach has access to that program.

The only problem with animated images would be the lag is causes some users if the person posts repeatedly on the same page (or if many users have animated avatars / signatures on the same page). However, as long as they're not massive, it shouldn't be an issue (FatalAeroX's avatar and signature are good examples of what I'd consider animated images that don't take a lot to load and don't affect page viewing).

I'm certainly not going to prohibit anyone making an animated avatar / signature that's too complex / large (as long as it doesn't break any rules, of course), but I'm just mentioning that it may affect how some users are able to navigate the threads the avatars / signatures appear in. :) (I recall a time where I made signatures for Pokémon Movies 10 - 12 that featured animated .gifs of scenes from the films, and those basically rendered some pages unloadable. Learned from that mistake.)

I would like to come to see more activity around here.

I would like to see more traditional artists that can draw pokemon and people...on paper. But, that may not happen.

Yep.

Um, a few art of the weeks here and there, never was succesful.
:/

Nope. Worked in a few, though.

Definitely positive.

Activity.

Like I told some guy over PM a while ago (think it was soth) this place isn't conducive for traditional art because there's really not much motivation for it. You don't get the whole atmosphere of fellow artists being active around here and that deters potential other artists from activity here as well. GFX art worked because somehow people jumped on the bandwagon and it became a self-sustaining activity fueled by regular input.

I think the only other guy here who draws on paper is xous, and even then, you only see the digitised end product.

Speaking from my experience as a former mod, it's entirely possible to get people posting hand drawn art with a little support. All you really need to do is set things in motion (asking known artists politely to share their work, host competitions based around traditional art, etc), and from there the process tends to guide itself. People never seem to post their traditional work because Lilycove doesn't look like the place for it, but if you change that appearance then people will be far more willing. I think this place would be far better with a lower concentration of GFX.
