When's a New Kadabra Card Ever Going to Be Released? :-/

Ever notice how in Rising Rivals theres a Stage 1 Alakazam card but the last English Kadabra cards was printed way back in Sky Ridge set from Wizards?

So any word on when we will ever see a new full Abra to Alakazam tree in a English set?

and why has this happened is also on my mind as well bus it seems lame to print a Alakazam card but not a new Kadabra one :-/

There was a problem with Kadabra a few years back. Due to its use of spoons, psychic Yuri Geller claime that Nintendo was characterizing him, and sued. Nintendo won the lawsuit, but since then has not printed Kadabra. Its pretty likely that they never will, as with how they don't use Porygon's family in the show.

then why did they Print a card you technically cant use in a game unless the Kadabra from sky ridge is still somehow legal?

i heard about that jerk before nearly ruined Pokemon with that little Spat with Pokemon its a good thing Nintendo won that lawsuit IMHO as for the Porygon thing thats kinda lame i've been waiting so long for it to be in a ep again despite that seizure thing...

About kadabra, the pokemon's japanese name is Also very similar to Yuri geller, although in relation to the RR card you mentioned, it's a Basic SP pokemon, therefore not needing kadabra.

@6-Dimension I actually never noticed they never used porygon 2 or Z lol, I've watched the seizure episode online and I was fine XD

The RR Alakazam is an SP Pokemon, so it is played as a Basic. The MT line, though now rotated, was playable. There's always Rare Candy, and the Abra had an attack that let you automatically play Alakazam onto it.

You'll notice that every time they've printed Abra since the lawsuits, it has some way of evolving straight into Alakazam and Kadabra is therefore not needed.

ahh ok well still i think its unfair to us Kadabra fans here..

Thanks for the info and thoughts i was hoping there was a official reson for the skip of Kadabra in the TCG but that will do i guess... lame as it is..

it surprises me that we can still get kadabra in the games. imagine "OH MAN MY ABRA IS EVOLVING *one evolving music transformation later* ALAKAZAM?!?!?!?!?!?!

what doesnt make sense is that kadabra is still featured on the alakazam evolution section of the card.
if the issue was releasing kadabra images, then they shouldve gotten rid of the whole evolution line of alakazam.
theres no point not printing a kadabra card now

^i think its just the name. i was thinking the same. just slowly kill the alakazam line so that no one would have to mention kadabra again...

Well, the thing is, now that Pokemon is basically not using Gens 1-4's Pokemon in the Anime and TCG (At least for the base B/W set), I don't think there will ever be a new Kadabra Card until Nintendo or whoever does the card stuff in Japan decides to include all gens in the TCG.

Well... not really. They still had to stay true to the games; they couldn't just totally butcher the evolutions. Geller's probably fine with that little image and the small "evolves from Kadabra" in the corner, it's not like it's a huge deal.

Kadabra's Japanese name is transliterated from Yuri Geller's name. Abra and Alakazam's Japanese names were Casey (after purported psychic, Edgar Cayce) and Foodin (after magicians, Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin or Harry Houdini).
The only reason Nintendo was sued only for Kadabra's Japanese name was that Geller is still the only one that's alive. XD
Had Nintendo named Kadabra after someone who was dead, he'd be A-Ok.

Wow, what an eye opener... The Rising Rivals Alakazam one was like a basic pokemon, right?

^Yes, SP's are still considered basic, even if it is an evolved Pokemon (due to the fact it would say 'Basic' or not on card).
