Theres some programs that allow you to watch all kinds of local tv, but I have no idea how legal any of that is.

Get KeyHole TV.

One of the channels is TV Tokyo, you're going to have to guess through, though it is near the top.

I don't see why, personally. Not being able to understand what's going on detracts from the excitement.

Japanese TV is pretty hilarious. The guessing about what they're saying with the pictures makes it super fun.
 
I often can at times disect what they are saying since I began taking classes a month ago or so. I loved the one a few weeks back when the kids just go and hit the Plasma guy XD The girl is adorable btw
 
For the record, if all goes well, I'll be watching the Smash episode live, meaning I'll be able to translate it live.
