Pokemon Where do the professors get the starters?

Anyway, who wrote that Red and Blue Walkthrough anyway? I mean, who gave them those "facts"?

It was a guide published in the UK.

I think they are regular wild Pokemon, the only reason you can't get them in the wild is just a limitation of the game imposed upon players, to make the "Starter" Pokemon choice more significant.

(Pikachu are found in the wild and they are, debateably, a Starter Pokemon.)

Actually you can find them in the wild. It's just really rare.

I always thought the Professors had a Ditto to breed starter Pokemon from.
