I can't decide what to play. Gengar Lock or Rampardos.

Gengar lock (Dialga X G included) can stop powers, bodies, and trainers to be played. It also "avoids" donks with fainting spell which is a factor 3/6 flips in a game. It can put 6 counters with {P} to power pokes. It can also do 30X trainers/supp./stadiums in the opponent's hand, which, with all the donkers, all decks will have XXtrainers/s/s.

Rampardos can donk 80 T1 with 1 {F]. It can prevent damage with {F} {C} and do 40 damage. It's pokebody makes resistace to {F} look like a joke, as it does virtually nothing to Rampardos. It is faster than all decks and has massive skill.

Which one?

Let's consider the metagame. If your metagame runs donk decks it would actually be harmful for you to run Gengar. Most donk decks run Uxie, which not only may outspeed you if you fail to start with a Gastly, but also runs right through your fainting spell. Donk decks also quickly burn their trainer cards to no end, leaving your second attack useless.

Rampardos all the way. Although, if you do end up running Rampardos, watch out for Gengar. Those stupid Gastlys are anoying!!! lol. But back to the topic. Rampardos is better IMO because you can absolutly destroy every deck that will be played at States. Gengar is a very good choise as well too however. I don't know, Rampardos is better, but Gengar is definatly a threat, I would go Rampardos though.

Rampardos FTW. Outspeeds everything else epikally, hits hard.

If I play Rampardos, you say I should watch out for gengar.

But, you all seem to want Rampardos. So if I play gengar, bye!

Zyflair: If I don't start with gastly and I start with say...Dialga G. Rampardos can't OHKO that. Or Gengar. Only Baltoy!

Rampardos is overhyped, but gengar is not even noteworthy when it comes to states. :/ Seriously, it doesn't lock anything. The only thing it could lock thats noteworthy, rare candy, is now being steady replaced (or at least suplimented with) broken time space, so even that isn't a big factor.

Gengar is noteworthy cause of its Trainer hacking... it's a good idea. It will lock up Skull Fossils being put down.

Rampardos has a steady mid-game, unlike ugly Machamp, with Hax Punch.

You can lock my skull fossils in my hand all the time you want, but since your not doing damage (and 99.8% of the time I am), you're not going to be very happy with the end results.

How do you lock trainers with Gengar?
Dialga G Lv.X. Then you can use Mesprit/Alakazam/Crobat G with Powerspray.

I think Gengar is better, as it makes it so your opponent can't play Skull Fossils. If you go first, you can just Trainer Lock. Most Rampardos decks have 4 Skull Fossil and about 3 Uxie for the only Pokémon in the deck, so there is a chance they'll start with Uxie. If you can pull off the T1 Pitch Dark you should be able to win against Rampardos. DOX has a pretty good GLOX list, the link is in my signature. I tested it, and Alakazam seems to do better with locking powers than Powerspray. You may change the list to your liking, but I use;

4-3-4 Gengar
1-1 Dialga G Lv.X
1-1 Mewtwo Lv.X
3 Uxie
1 Azelf
1 Unown G
(20)

11 Psychic
(11)

4 Memory Berry
4 Bebe's Search
4 Rare Candy
4 Looker's Investigation
4 Warp Point
4 Roseanne's Research
2 Night Maintenance
2 Miasma Valley
1 Luxury Ball
(29)

Your list doesn't even let Dialga G attack :/. It's Body locks other Bodies and Mesprit/Alakazam/Power Spray locks Powers. So again, how does it lock Trainers.

You use Memory Berry to access Gastly's Pitch-Dark attack. Then, next turn, you can use Poltergeist for massive damage!

So you KO 1, then your opponent's plays all his Trainers. I'm not sure if that's really working, is it?

hmmm i can see how this is a difficult choice.
pros for gengar
- fainting spell wins games
- 1 for 3-6 snipe is insane especially with the decreasing unown g tech
- free retreat is always really good
cons
- no real power attack
- 110 hp is very easy to put up in todays tier 1 decks
rampardos
pros
- 1 for 80 is insane
- 130 hp is average but with an above average attack it makes the hp much more noticable
- donks all day
cons
- im pretty sure its weak to psychic and there are alot of psychic pokemon decks out there
- people will tech/main to beat/outspeed this deck
i think rampardos will win more games at states level because any speedy decks autowin against wierd rogue decks a majority of the time. the spped of the deck will win you games against the more contoling top tier decks.gengar cant put out enough damage to kill rampys fast enough.

Rampardos is weak to Grass [+30]. But it's still to a type that there's a lot of decks of (Shaymin).

My list plays plays Pluspower, Crobat G, and PokeTurn. I'd be surprised if I didn't OHKO you. :/

And on a side note, no, they don't slow my T1 setup down since I could easily play them nonstop and then Uxie after I burned my hand.

I don't understand why Dialga G locks anything in a gengar deck. Except stopping Amphylock. Is that what you're talking about?

It is to help Gengar lock other PokeBodies.

But really, Gengar is hardly practical in this metagame. Unless you're lucky, it's not even remotely competitive.

I would lol so hard if Gengar started with Gastly and Rampardos didn't start with their fossil. Thats pretty much GG if Gengar plays it right. LOLOLOLOLOL Kingdra>>Gengar>>Machamp>>Rampardos. Rampardos will probably win, but thats really because a lot of people will be playing it.
