Hey guys.

So I was thinking of tweaking my Reshiboar deck and making it Magneboar, but I want to know which one you guys think is better. Pleae vote in the poll and/or comment! Thanks!

Scans(I didn't forget this time, EspeonROX! :p)

Magnezone Prime from HS-Triumphant

Emboar #20 from BW

Reshiram from BW

EDIT: Please read the Player's Sandbox rules before...oh wait. You did. Nice work. :] ~EspeonROX.

Reshiboar is better, because it can tech RDL for Samurott, and in my playtests, the Energys aren't enough in Magneboar if you want to beconsistency. That deck would be awesome if it could 0HKO things with 2 Energys, but against Reshiram it's always 3, and eventually Magneboar Energy will end, before it wins the game.

reshiboar sets up faster
is super consistant
has good draw power throught the game via ninetales
and can use Rayquaza deoxys legend for those 1HKOs

you can also swarm reshirams and it gives you more deck space to run other TSS
having a 2 stage 2 deck can get clunky and takes up alot of space

I was thinking run Magneboar with 2 Reshis as techs. That way I wouldn't need Ninetales because Magnezone is its own drawpower. The line would look like this:

3 - 2 - 3 Magnezone Prime
2 - 1 - 2 Emboar BW
1 Reshiram BW
1 - 1 Rayquaza/Deoxys Legend
2 Cleffa HGSS/CoL

@Hagane: I agree that you can LZ only so many energies, but I would probably run Pluspower for 60 HP, 110 HP, and 160 HP Pokemon's presence. I don't know if the regular Magneboar runs PP, but...

@Yoshi

That's a good skeleton, but make it a 2-1-2 Emboar, and 1 Reshiram tech, as you're already running 1-2 candy, and 1 more wont hurt, and will make it more consistent than 2 pignite. 2 Reshiram's really just aren't neccesary.

That makes sense. Magneboar just seems more better mid-game, and it's hard to win without the right start in Reshiboar(as it is in any deck, but with Reshiboar its a bit hard to get set-up without the right cards in your hand).

Just a suggestion, try using a Shuckle, as I see it works really well with drawing, and the energies can be used for Lost Burn either way

dont you mean magneboar is a bit harder to setup?
in magneboar, you'll need:
magnezone - stage 2
emboar - stage 2

in reshiboar, youll need:
emboar -stage 2
reshiram - basic

last time i played, setting up 1 stage 2 is alot easier than setting up 2.

magneboar also required ALOT of energy, whereas in reshiboar, you can recycle your energy.
RDl is also a better hard hitter as it allows you to take another prize.

But Magneboar can hit anything for an OHKO, provided it has the neccesary energy, and it has built in draw power, making it a good resort to getting energies.

With Reshiboar, you can only hit for so much.

BTW, setting up 2 stage two's takes 2-3 turns, not too bad especially when you have a Cleffa stalling it out for you.

@ogeray; Yeah, that's a problem with Magneboar.

However, Reshiboar has bad matchups as stated by Typhlosionwolf to Samurott, Blastoise, and even Feraligatr, whereas Magneboar doesn't really have any bad matchups.

I don't know if I can post this, but can anyone PM me a skeleton decklist of Magneboar? I need help so I can playtest both vigorously.

I think Magneboar is better just because reshiboar can only hit for so much for so long. Plus Magneboar can draw for its resources. Whereas reshiboar has to set up really quick to hit and magneboar can hit for a lot more, even though it may be a little slower.

This is my magneboar list and it works out fantastic, I already posted it in DG so it aint no secret...

20
3-2-3 Magnezone
2-1-2 Emboar
1-1 RDL
1 Reshiram
4 Cleffa

22
3 Collector
2 ELM
1 Twins
3 Communication
3 Candy
2 Juniper
3 Judge
2 Switch
2 Junk Arm
1 Energy Retrieval

18
12 Fire
4 Lightning
2 Rescue

but i havent played any reshirams. Reshiram is faster being that its a basic but it can only hit for so much damage. As said magneboar can ohko plenty and if you have the right amount of energy in our deck build, you wont need to worry about having the energy. It is slow but again as Darkvoid said rare candy and cleffa-stall along with judge & junipers could really speed things up.

Also you can essentially play a mini-reshiboar deck in your magnezone deck since it uses basically the same cards (except for running less energy recovery). I run one energy retrieval just in case i have to use reshiram to attack asap along with junk arm.

You can also use RDL since your running lightning energies for magnezone. (and in my list, energy retrieval)

I think they're both good decks but as to which is better, guess it ultimately depends on the deck build and player playing it.

Cool! I think I would have to test with 3 Cleffa since I only have 3, and I might just play one or 2 Dual Ball for early game. Thanks!

Look, if you have to kill 6 Reshirams to win the game, you will have to Lost Burn EXACTLY 3 Energys. So, you need exactly 18 Energy. Like in Avacado list. But they will probably KO you and then you lose.

but jahikoi just a sheer amount of pokemon dosen't win you game you have to be consistent and have good recovery.

On topic: I really like magnezone based decks but have you tried having RDL or Reshiram as a the main attacker and then magnezone as a back up attacker/draw power instead of the other way around. I think that RDL is more optimal in this position if your deck runs a consistent warp seeker engine to avoid being koed by opposing reshirams/zekroms.

Bwaaaa

@Everyone: The thing with Reshiboar is that it is the only thing that gives Magneboar trouble, but Magneboar has great matchups (other than Donchamp) and can easily handle anything that comes its way. I think Magneboar is the better choice.

@Yoshi

In my opinion, yeah Magneboar is better, just because it has really nice matchups against almost everything.

Yeah, I think reshiboar is better. It can still use RDL; and with 1 attacking emboar it can deal serious hurt. I run 2 DCE, 3-2-3 emboar (1 attacker), and the DCE helps me by letting me put in 1 bouffalant.
