Think about it, none of Ash's companions ever have a job, so why are they still able buy food? More over, why aren't they dead yet? Were all of Ash's companions rich or something? Seriously, after all of his traveling, climbing mountains, facing evil organizations, going through poisonous forests, and they are still alive? Atleast they could have pikachu die from starvation or from disease like cancer by now, including all of them. Especially Team Rocket, they said once that they have no food, and they are also alive? Does someone give them free hamburgers everytime they beg on the streets? Do they even beg on the streets? Do they even have those "Will work for food" signs? Seriously, none of this makes any sense, they should all be dead by now.

The closest thing to a Pokemon "Living on the street" was the episode that explained Meowths past, where be was a street cat, and there was that cat, meowzie or something.
Heck their parents probably send them money from their jobs, who knows maybe Ash's father works for a living, plus with all the food they find in best wishes from Iris I'd be surprised if they do go starving.
