XY Why Clone?

The other side of the coin is if everyone did not clone we would not have as many events as if we did by cloning. In order to get all the events now from every region is to buy a 3DS from every are region and or use the file dumping programs for the PC and clone your Pokemon that way.

And if Nintendo decides to distribute a Tanabata Jirachi in Japan only, why do we have a right to take it by force, so to speak?

Also, happy/confused/perturbed to see this thread exploded again. xD

Its like why download songs of singers instead of paying for them. Some people will tell you this is because they dont have money and others will simply say "Why not ?"
Only that this is an in game glitch that doesnt make Game Freak lose any money. Heck , Its like the Sims glitch were you can get lots of money. Some games have build in cheats like GTS .
Gliches are in almost every game and they are fun :)

Region locking any device is actually a very bad idea. When they were universal it was much easier to get the Pokemon events. However I still can get all the events as always but for everyone else it is not so easy unless you know exactly what to do to get events outside the U.S.:)

Its a game. You don't need a right. Just take it and enjoy your Jirachi.

If we can't go and get the event without buying the system and games for the events then there are other ways to obtain them. I will not display the ways but I know what to do to get them without buying the systems and games from those regions but I don't know how. I just trade for my Pokemon and stuff.:)

As I feel it's best put, "When you clone a Pokemon, you no longer have an original and a copy. You just have two clones." You can just as well hack an identical copy of an event (as people frequently do). The only Pokemon with value to a collector is a legitimate, original event, with verification of such.

That said, many non-collectors just care about getting certain Pokemon (e.g. for the sake of competitive battling), regardless of their origins. Again, I'll always avoid cloned or hacked Pokemon, but if you want to clone for your own use, go ahead. Just don't try and tell others it's legit.

I don't see why the only Pokemon with value are non-clones. The data you receive is literally the same. It's just that the system you receive from has distributed a second copy of said data. Nothing changes for the receiving end's case. Nothing in-game, anyways. In your own mind, I guess. But you can't assign values to data and expect people to actually take it seriously. The value is in your head, not in the game's code.

I don't like clones of my own things because meh. Don't see why I would need multiples of something. But I've got a few from trades online that I'm completely fine with. It's not a clone for my game -- it's the only one of its kind.

The value is all in the difficulty of acquiring something. Anyone could clone a million copies of an event (or even just generate them in the generation 5 games) and distribute them, and suddenly they're worthless. Not only by the law of supply and demand, but also because, for many people, these clones are tainted because they only exist by illegitimate means.

In any case, the value of most things in this game are just in your head, and not in the games code. It's called sentimental value, and while it's completely arbitrary (just because I value something doesn't mean you have to), it is still real, and people still take it seriously.

As I've said twice already in this thread, if you don't care about cloning just go ahead not caring. And the people who do care can keep on caring too. It's just a game, after all.

True it is a game but if we cannot get the events any other way what are we supposed to do when 3/4's of us can't travel thousands of miles and buy extra systems and games just to get the events we have been looking for. I have thousands of events from people who helped me get them. It was because of them I still have them. If it were not for the people who helped me get them I would have nothing except maybe 20 events or so. You see people who collect events go out of their way to get the events then they clone them for other people to use. IMO they should legalize cloning since this is how we do as Katy Perry stated LOLz.:)

I've only traded for clones of events (I try my hardest to obtain in person from the event) but I do what I have to if I'm not able. Then certain Pokémon I use for breeding like Ditto and tutor move Pokémon (X/Y) which won't be needed anymore from the ORAS release.

It annoys me when people say they are against cloning, if I caught a Pokemon, we'll say Poochyena, and I had it bred so it would have Fire Fang along with an Adamant nature, and I cloned it, what would be the difference between that and breeding for another Poochyena with the same move and nature? Cloning saves so much more time, and if whomever wants to debate personal value, so be it. I understand the point of personal value, but there's a difference between personal and trade value. And I would find it better anyways to have a clone of a Pokemon I like, because then I can keep the Pokemon in it's original condition, all while having another to screw around/do whatever I want with, and if I mess up my Pokemon, my other "copy" is still there, intact just as I originally had it.
