Pokemon Why did Pokemon only follow the player in HG/SS?

Am i the only one confused by why they only did this with HG and SS? I loved having my lead Pokemon walk around with me everywhere I went and the best part was that it would literally be ANY Pokemon. I'm super disappointed that they haven't done this in any other games. What are your thoughts?

RE: Pokemon HG and SS Overworld Pokemon sprites

It's still something they could have and should have left in. I especially got enjoyment out of seeing shiny Pokemon overworld sprites

I enjoyed it as well. It was just a neat little thing that I liked for whatever reason.

Maybe they got lazy, and didn't want to make the sprite artwork for Gen 5 pokemon.

They also have to remake all the previous Pokemon to match the new game style. It's not an easy task.

And yet the Entree Forest used the Pokewalker sprites.
They didn't need to remake; they just needed to add about 150 more.

Of course, I'm glad that the Pokemon aren't following you around in Gen 5. That annoyed the heck out of me.

Altho I partially share that view, they could have simply made it optional, being able to enable/disable it in the same manner as using a HM.

I thought all Pokémon had overworld sprites in B2W2? They could have /easily/ implemented the feature. They... just didn't. ;_;

Ranger's a bit different though. That's all about bonds, plus they have very different ideals to the characters in the main series.

Don't forget that in Yellow your Pikachu followed you if you had it in your team.

I also agree with this. I liked it at first but then it just got very frustrating to deal with.

I remember in BW2's trailer, it showed the male character you play as, and he is where you find Hugh's Liepard, and he has kangaskhan following hin.

Like DNA mentioned, I'm pretty sure every pokémon has an overworld sprite in BW or at least in B2W2 because any pokémon can appear in the Entree Forest, even legendaries through dream world events (like Arceus), or Unova Pokémon. So, it confuses me they didn't maintained the feature...

Pikachu follows you in Pokémon Yellow, it's definitely a popular idea among fans. I do hope they have this in X & Y, it's fun having them follow you. I'd love them to bring back the PokeWalker, it's a handy gimmick and works. I am not sure how popular it was, but hell I always used it. I could, have it when walking around college and in the Kitchen.

Pics or it didn't happen.

I personally hated it. I did like the Pokewalker, 1 day at school and after recess and PE I had thousands of volts! The battery died though :(

My biggest problem with PokéWalker, was that your Pokémon never learnt the moves it would through level up when you bought them back into the game.
