why has HP and damage gone up so much over the years?

I say it's very possible that Manaphy will have an EX, but I don't see that happening to Phione any time soon...

I thoroughly endorse the idea of making a Phione-EX for the sheer absurdity of it. <3

I think it's because they wanted to make each set effect the format. The only way to dot that was make the guys gradually get better. Now, they can't lower it because it will make it too hard for newer players to get into the game because they'd have to buy all the old, good cards that had shot up in price.

It's a bit off topic, but I don't think that they plan on doing any of the cutsie Pokemon as EXs. Not because they see them as underdogs, but because they are really a let down to young children. As a child I know I would have been just as happy to pull a Mewtwo EX as a Reshiram EX. I would not on the other hand have been just as happy to see the holo boarder, know I got something awesome, pull it out of the card stack and find a Jirachi EX as opposed to a character like Reshiram.

We already have Shaymin EX, whose HP is drastically lower than the others, so I think it's definitely possible.

Hah, basics with 50 HP or less are almost useless now until they evolve quickly. I remember playing the gameboy TCG and I did fine with some basics and I could never evolve in time. But now it's like you gotta evolve before they do. Well it was like that back then too but now with powerful basics, it's just more urgent. Cause that Mewtwo EX could come outta nowhere and bam! You're like "aw but all I got is my Growlithe, Tepig, Litwick and Pignite in my hand!" You're not gonna like that scenario...

I could do without 62/64 card sets that are still 25% filler because they print every rare twice, personally.

I liked that, since it made it easy to get non holo cards that were good. say you pulled a holo Scyther, you could easily get 2 non holo scyther and a DCE for your holo from a collector. as a player, that was really nice. just like you can get 2-3 regular cards for one reverse of the card. once a gain, from a player's standpoint, it's awesome.

what I didn't like about the old format was it's insane speed. you think lost remover, crushing hammer, catcher, junk arm, and juniper are broken? base set had gust of wind, energy removal, super energy removal, item finder, and professor oak (as a trainer, no supporters) as well as Bill being a trainer. your opponent run out of easy gust of wind KO's? play pokeflute and then gust of wind that small tike back up for an easy KO. not drawing into the Gust of wind? that's ok, use Computer Search to get one. think evolutions are useless now? what about Aerodactyl?

we always look back at old formats and remember the fun we had and think it should be that way, while complaining about the current format. but once Rotation is announced, people will want to keep their cards in the format that they were saying sucked.

power creep is a fact of life for games like this. you need incentive to keep playing, to keep people interested, they need to make things cool, and just good overall. which they are doing a pretty good job IMO.

When I was a kid and played, years ago, I remember attacks costing more for not a lot of damage compared to the last few years. Not praising or cursing, just remembering.

I think eventually they'll just kinda...slap the power down. I dunno about you but they seem to have done that a few times. Boosted up card stats enormously a bit into the D/P/P stuff, then in HG/SS we got a bit of a downgrade. Now with B/W it's shot up.

Doesn't really matter too much, I play in league so I tend to take advantage of my decks that speed up the evolution and energy charging process. Still works well against EX decks.
