Why is Skyridge so sought after?

I opened 2 boxes and sadly didn't get any crystal Charizard or Celebi. I got 1 Ho-oh regular, 1 reverse, 1 Golem regular, 2 Crobat reverses and a Kabutops reverse. I bought the boxes for around $150 each. There's this store here in Brazil that has had them forever, since few people collect here, and they've been rotated for a while now.

For 2 boxes, those are some great pulls! If I recall correctly, the Crystal pull rate is supposed to be 1-2 per box.

Why would being rev-holo hurt its value?

It's just not as pretty and sparkly as normal holo. Just a bland flare foil. Only people who'd want that are those who complete master sets.

RE: Skyridge

anybody aware of how much a complete set goes for?
I'm only a couple reverse holos off...

RE: Skyridge

If I got a box, I would open it but if I got two I'd keep one sealed. For $400-$500 a box, you won't get much value by opening it, but would be fun as hell to open one.

RE: Skyridge

I was pretty lucky and found a Crystal Celebi for 17 dollars and a Crystal kabutops for 8 dollar on Swedish ebay (Buy it now).^^ Both were absolutely mint condition!

On the topic of pull rates, I have seen 2-4 Crystals per box with RH being twice as common.

Skyridge is definitely a desirable set for collectors. The artwork is amazing and it marks the end of the WoTC era. Additionally, this is one of few sets to contain box toppers and Skyridge is also known for the inclusion of Crystal Charizard. That's given it quite a reputation. As if that wasn't enough, Skyridge is a MASSIVE set making it extremely difficult to complete. It's quite common to open 2-3 boxes and still be missing a good chunk of the set, especially so if you are after all the different serial numbers on the bottom of the card.

To those interested in a personal anecdote: I planned to purchase two boxes to open with my girlfriend about two years ago. Back then, Skyridge boxes were only $170 apiece which was still expensive enough to make me really consider my options before making a purchase. I ended up passing on it to get a different box. Ever since that missed opportunity the price of Skyridge boxes has gone through the roof. I am definitely much quicker to respond to a good price now. :p

Is this the set with the Rainbow energy Tyranitar or something? I remember pulling two of those. I still have one left.

I didn't get that many cards in this set, as I wanted to complete my Legendary Collection, Expansion Base Set and Aquapolis sets.

I like the set and I am going for a master set I just bought 100 skyridge cards with about 30 RH foils for $18 so im happy about that if any one at all has any spare for trade or sell please respond to my thread or PM as I will trade well for bulk lots :)

Exactly how hard would it be to get all the cards with all serial numbers because I am going to try :D

Getting a complete master set is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

See, if it were that easy, I was going to make each number link to a different eBay listing. Unfortunately, it is not that easy! For the time being, you'll have to either buy a bunch of packs or piece it together via individual purchases. Good luck!

All the scans are here:

It was a very hard set to compete. I did it when prices were very low.
I had a friend who opened booster boxes by the case and I hit her up to complete it and the reverse holo set.

The 3 headed monster (Expedition, Aquapolis, and Skyridge) killed the game.
WOTC took 5 (I believe) sets of Japanese cards and made 3 sets so huge most collectors were too overwhelmed to complete.

It is true, it is the only set where there was reverse holos of the Crystal types.
Kind of a going away gift from WOTC.

The dot codes were cool, when you scanned one it told you the others needed to scan to complete a mini game. Most were kind of lame but some were neat!

I'm sorry, no I do no trade anybody online anymore.
A year ago I got ripped off over $150 in older mint collectible cards.
Ever since I have refused to send anything over the internet.

Ahh that sux sadly I have been ripped a few times over the years as well and more than $150 but it is the risks we take being online traders.

Dose this sound crazy I want to go to the extent of trying to get every different serial number or code of each card.

I don't know if they printed so many of each pokemon with the same code/serial and then moved to another E.G say if charizard had 1234ddfr they would print 100 of him with that code then move to another code could any one clarify this for me?
If it is true were would I be able to obtain the information of how many codes there are per card.

I actually am planning (well, have been planning) to start up a project to collect all the possible serial numbers for every card. Skyridge is not the only set with multiple serial numbers - there are a few ex series sets.

Ahh ok do you know where I could find info on the numbers I only want to do the skyridge set might as well do the hardest set first :D.

If only I had knowen skyridge was going to sell like crazy I had fare few of them back in the day then I sold all of my collection four years ago I regret it still to this day.

You'd have to find images of each card or obtain copies to try and get as many numbers as you can.
