Wii U Discussion

Any thoughts on the new console coming out next month, or what launch games look best (like Mario U or Zombie U)?

RE: Wii U

Mario U sounds neat but in no way am I going to pay so much for one controller.
I think the console is going to flop, honestly. No one I've talked to wants to spend that kind of money for it.

You underestimate the power of 9 year old children.

What's even the difference, besides using some ds thing while you play or whatever?
Wii Yuu

Wii Yuu

It's an entirely new console. The whole power of the thing is now a bit better than the current gen consoles, online integration is going to be much better, and the Wii U GamePad allows for many possibilites.

RE: Wii U

If I ever get a Wii U, I would probably just get Pikmin 3.
I´m looking forward to the new Smash Bros and a Zelda game too, even if they´re released like 2 years later.

RE: Wii U

Plus, cross-console games. You've got stuff like Batman: Arkham City and Mass Effect 3 coming to a Nintendo console. That's nothing to mess with.

Is the new Smash Bros going to be the same as Brawl, or will they add new characters? Always wanted to know what characters they would add next. Also, I heard that there's going to be a 3DS version that might have something to do with the Wii U. I don't know for sure, though...

RE: Wii U

I can't wait for the Wii U. There may not be the best games yet, but I'm probably gonna buy it opening week. It just opens up so much cooler gaming.

We don't know much about Smash Bros. yet, it's still a long way from being finished. Most of the good stuff hasn't been announced yet.

Here's hoping for the next SSB.

Anyways, I'm still pretty iffy about buying this. Money is certainly a factor, but the GamePad makes playing any type of game look extremely tedious, especially shooters and other genres that will no doubt be released on this console. If they can manage to create some cool new features while still keeping the classic gaming experience, then I'm sure I'll be able to manage getting it.

And so the GamePad can be relegated to a minimap and more detailed HUD, as shown at the last preview event.

RE: Wii U

Is that controller included with the original purchase? Or has that been decided yet?

I know they always come up with classic controllers, I just don't want to shell an extra $50 for one come release day.

Wait, no more motion controllers? Not that I care much, but wasn't that the whole purpose of the Wii?
Wii Fit pops into my mind...lol

The GamePad will be the primary control scheme, but then you have this, the Pro Controller, made for long sessions and a more "traditional" feel. The system is also fully compatible with Wii Remotes, Wii Motion Plus, Wii Remote Plus', Nunchuks, and the Balance Board. Like, Mario U, if played with 5 people, will have four with remotes like Mario Wii, and one on the GamePad doing stuff. Wii Fit U will use the Balance Board. Black Ops 2 will have separate screen multiplayer, with one person on the GamePad and one with a Pro Controller or Wiimote+Nunchuk combo on a TV.

RE: Wii U

The console looks like a lot of fun. I'll probably get it down the road. The one severe problem I have with it is the launch games. This is a huge problem that stems from their E3 and later showings. There's just nothing coming out that is going to sell the system at least for me to buy it Day 1 and it could have been easily remedied by including the games that were the best at E3 IMO. I'm talking about games like Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, etc. Just missed opportunities. If you're not going to release the games that look the best on the system, then it should have had a cheaper price tag. Instead, they went with the expected price and included a game in a second bundle as a "bonus". For that reason, I'm not as excited for the system as I normally would be, but I have faith that they will turn it around. Just in a couple months/the first year it's out.

dmaster out.

Psh. Like Capcom cares about any of their games anymore.

I'm not getting it because I'm not as big a fanboy as I was during the Wii's lifespan. I'll be interested in Nintendo's activity but there is still so many Nintendo greats I need to play. Mostly RPGs.
