Will Zekeels see a decrease in viability once the BW-on format is in play?

Do you see Zekeel's still having play in the BW-on format? (Please also explain why)

You need at least 1 Zekrom EX for the Hydreigon matchup. It's also somewhat useful against Garchomp, but generally it uses up too many resources to use more than once or twice.

Well with the way people are making it seem right now. Fighting will be played quite a bit less due to lots of people changing over to Dragons. The main reason there was so much fighting in HGSS-On was because the 2 Best Decks were weak to it. Now that there is this huge influx of dragons I don't think Tornadus EX will warrant a spot, atleast as much as he did in HGSS-On.

Zekrom EX will take 1 more energy than Tornadus EX to be at full capacity. Not being able to attack on turn 1 with him will suck, but Im not sure if I will have Tornadus EX in my BW-On Zekeels or not...

Tornadus EX should be a one-of in ZekEels deck. I don't know if I agree with the "Fighting will be played quite a bit less" statement, because Darkrai is still very popular and EelBox still has a reputation of being solid. These are reasons I would run Terrakion, at least. Seeing this guy with Garbodor is frightening, and a good reason to tech in a Tornadus to help cushion the damage with your nice Resistance. Considering your Retreat Cost is only a single Energy, you can take advantage of Skyarrow Bridge really nicely with Tornadus EX. With a PlusPower, you could 2HKO with Blow Through. If you hit 'em with Power Blast, it's a guaranteed 2HKO (unless they Max Potion, but that'd be a stupid move). Definitely test with the Tornadus, because he can come in handy.

(Woohoo! Post #6000!)

No one seems to be talking about fighting decks nowadays but fighting decks have improved with this set. Stunfisk DRX donks tynamoes and its first attack has good synergy with Groudon EX, they acquired mid/ late-game energy acceleration with Terrakion EX, and Bouffalant DRX can easily be slotted in the list as a counter to Tornadus EX and other EXes. The viability of fighting decks will also be helped by the usage of dark deino in Darkrai/Hydreigon decks. It will actually be a good call to bring a good consistent fighting deck to battle roads. Im actually amazed why Darkrai/Hydreigon and EelBox users are currently actively dissing Garchomp/Altaria in forums when Garchomp/Altaria is very good against fighting decks. If there is a decrease in Garchomp/Altaria usage, fighting decks will surprise in battle roads.

Eelbox will have a problem with fighting decks, but Darkrai has at least three consistant Non-Dark attackers, where as Eels might have Tornadus EX, and might have Rayquaza (either one), it always has Mewtwo EX, but we expect Terrakion/Mewtwo to be a big deck, which means there will be a Mewtwo War, which probably won't be a good thing, considering Terrakion can Catcher KO a Raikou or some other EX, if any, I don't know, I haven't seen the match-up, but, the point is, T.D.R (The Dark-Region) has more ways to get around Ground-Rock-Fighting based deck, so it won't have much of a problem with it.

You don't need Tornadus for the Fighting decks although it can be used as a slight cushion. Mewtwo is usually the better go to Pokemon for those kinds of decks.

Not to mention you can pretty much sacrifice any mirror match you face if you play Tornadus EX down. That sounds like extremely high risk, little reward to me even if the chance of starting it is low.

dmaster out.

Just cause Terrakion Mewtwo has Mewtwo doesn't mean that Mewtwo is a bad way to counter the deck. One huge thing they lose is Shaymin UL, which allowed them to get the revenge KO out of nowhere, even though it is slightly predictable. Energy switch replaces it, but it isn't searchable (without Skyla) and it only moves 1 non basic energy. DCE isn't searchable either. Also, Eel decks and fighting decks play multiple Mewtwo, so it will clearly be harder for fighting decks to consistently getting surprise Mewtwos, especially with Tool Scrapper and EXP share.

Tornadus EX is ok. It supports an even prize trade when Eviolited and it can outspeed Fighting decks. However, t really just saves your other attackers for later since it is an even trade.

IMO Any thing Eels based is actually HELPED by the rotation. Cilan becomes more popular as it gets Lighting into your hand better than having to use cards like Sages, (where you have to top deck energy you may not get so that you can discard it) and paired with Ultra Ball, your getting definite energy exactly where you need it.

Another bonus we get comes in the form of the Secret Rare Rayquaza. For a single Lightning you discard 2 off the top of your deck. Useful as now we can use Pokedex to place any stray Lighting on top. Personally I think this improves the stability of the deck once rotation happens in a couple of weeks here as it looks like the 17 Card Dragon Selection set will be brought out World-Wide as the Dragon Vault- assuming of course it actually gets put in there.

We will also see Skyla soon (Probably our Jan/Feb set if not in Nov) as well as Bicycle and Computer search - all of which will fortify pretty much all decks, but it will definitely not hurt anything Eel based.

The problem is Eels is also hurt by the rotation because better cards are brought in and Zekeels won't stand up to them.
