XBOX LIVE help needed!

Hi guys, I have a Gold Membership for XBOX Live, and I have the headset. When I plug it into the controller, is anything supposed to happen? How can I chat while I am playing games like CoD:WaW? Please help me.

When playing online, you have 2 choices. Well, 3 actually.

1. Hit the big button in middle of controller and start a party. Your chat will be limited to those people.

2. Keep headset plugged in and you can chat with other people your gamming with.

3. Dont chat at all? lol

Well, I try to but I dont know how to make it work. Idk if they can hear me. I can't hear them. I dont know if they are speakking or not.

You can hear them but they can't hear you?

Well the only thing I can think of is the little toggle in the middle of the headset wire, click it once to green. Then it should work, otherwise you're headset is broken.
