Xerneas / Fairies

I used to be a majorly competitive Yugioh player, including qualifying for the Yugioh US Nationals twice. However, after moving, I found myself falling out of Yugioh. After a string of events, I quit completely and stopped playing card games in general, until my sister's fiance got me back into the Pokemon TCG. Using my knowledge from Yugioh, I've tried getting into Pokemon TCG, but they're so different, I need help. My deck is built around my personal favorite type, Fairies, and while I tried with it, it's not very good. This is on TCG Online, and I tend to lose a lot more than I win. Well... here's the trainwreck.

Pokemon: 19
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 25

  • 4| Fairy Garden
    4| Professor Juniper
    3| Energy Retrieval
    2| Colress
    2| Evosoda
    2| Great Ball
    2| N
    2| Pal Pad
    2| Professor's Letter
    2| Ultra Ball
    1| Sacred Ash
Energy: 16

  • 14| Fairy
    2| Double Colorless

Take out: Doduo/Dodrio, Dunsparce, 2 Fairy Energy.
Add: More Aromatisse, Slurpuff, Xerneas EX, Xerneas, Juniper

Edited your post to coincide with the rules, then I went ahead and moved it from the New Player Help forum, which is used for new players and their questions, to the Deck Garage forum, which is for all kinds of decklists. Thanks! :D ~Kecleon

RE: Xerneas/Fairies

I know the feeling of playing on TCGO and having limited cards, but here's a few you just plain down don't need in your deck. I feel that you should take out the Dodrio line, the Dunsparce, and bring your Fairy type energies down to at most 15 (you won't need anymore than that). It's sorta hard to suggest what to add because I don't know if you have the cards, but if you have another Slurpuff and/or Aromatisse you should add them/it, same with Fairy Garden and Xerneas EX.

RE: Xerneas/Fairies

Unfortunately, I don't have any more Slurpuffs or Aromatisse, but I can add those to my looking for list. This Friday, hopefully, I'm getting another Fairy deck, so I can use that code to get more Slurpuffs and Aromatisse, as well as more Xerneas if I should run more than 2. As for EX, that will be a little harder to get, but I'll try to get it. What else do you suggest? I'll make notes of whats suggested, in the hopes of making this competitive.

Small edit: I just got another Carbink, so I put it in over an energy.

RE: Xerneas/Fairies

This deck can work really well if you can get at least one more Xerneas EX, as decks like these have 2 Xerneas EX in play, then use a combination of Fairy Garden and Aromatisse to continuously use X Blast (Free retreat with Fairy Garden, use Aromatisse to switch over energies, rinse and repeat). If you're going to get another code for the Fairy deck, you might as well add in 2 more Xerneas so that you have a great chance of beginning with it as your active to use Geomancy from the start.

If you can get your hands on a Prof Juniper/Sycamore (they do the same thing) you should definitely add those to your deck.

Does this being moved to the deck garage mean that it's decent, and better than a what a new player would be expected to build? Anyway, Just got the second Aromatisse and Slurpuff. I see a lot of people playing Hypnotoxic Laser. Should I try to get my hands on a couple?

It just doesn't belong in the New Player Help forum, seeing as the aforementioned is for new player's questions instead of their decks. ;) This doesn't reflect anything one way or another on your deck, it just reflects the fact that it is, indeed, a deck with cards in it. :p

This deck, like all decks, benefit from strong thick supporter lines (eg 4 juniper, 4 N etc..)
If you're able to get your hands on those you could take out the 4 Cheren and add in 2 juniper and 2 N. (Both these supporters are tenfolds better than Cheren :)

Also as a side note, since tierno and Cheren are cards with the same abilities it is illegal to include both in your deck (especially considering you have 5 copies combined between the two) just a helpful hint :)

Anyways hope all this is helpful in some way :)

^ Actually, to elaborate upon that statement, you can run Cheren and Tierno in the same deck but not Sycamore and Juniper. This ruling is as it was stated in the Compendium, for reasons only known to those who write the titular document. (i.e. Most likely because Cheren and Tierno are not the same caliber Supporter Cards that Sycamore and Juniper are, leading to disuse)

I would consider taking out the Kangaskhan EX for maybe a Emolga(Call for Family) so you can quickly set up your bench, or another colress. It is really hard starting up with limited cards, but this looks like a good basic deck list. Playing Ranked games are the best ways too get new cards.

If it's N's you're looking for, the Red Genesect Box includes 2 Copies of it, Juniper, and Skyla along with other assorted cards. If your main strategy is to spam X Blast by moving around bunches of Fairy energy, then you may want to play Max Potions to make your Xerneas EX harder to KO. You can buy singles online. However, in my experience with them, Fairies work best with Dark Type Pokemon such as Yveltal EX since you can move Fairy, Prism, and Rainbow energy with Aromatisse, meaning that you'd have the energy to use Evil Ball, and even boost the damage. That's my opinion, anyway. But seriously, The Red Genesect box is awesome since it includes search cards, supporters, several useful Pokemon, etc... You can probably find it at your local card store or Hastings, which is where I purchased mine.

Hope this helps,

So take out the Cherens for Ns and Junipers? I have 2 more of each. As for another colress... I will work on that.

I'm trying to build this deck IRL as well as on TCGO (TCGO is more complete). IRL I have a Luxery Ball and 2 Level Balls, the latter of which I also have on TCGO. Luxery Ball can search Xerneas, and Level Balls can search everything except Xerneas and my EX Pokemon. Should I play them while the deck is in it's current form, then drop them later for other things?

Deck took an overhaul. The focus is simply spam X-Blasts. Im thinking that the next things to take out will be Energy Retrieval, Boufallant, and maybe Carbink. I lowered N back to 2, because with 4, I wasn't using them, but they were sitting in my hand taking up space. The deck is fast now, as I can usually get a Fairy Garden and both Xerneas EX out, along with Aromatisse, in about 3-4 turns. I was testing this with 2 Garden, and it was too slow, but Im worried 4 may get clunky, but I'll test it. Im looking for 2 more Xerneas EX on TCGO's trading system.
