So I've been looking for a deck that suits me to start up my competitive career and over the past week I think I'm very close. My only goal with these decks is energy disruption. I've tried trevenant Ex, Sharpedo Ex , and Groudon Ex but I think this has been the best so far. this deck is based off of the 2nd place deck at North Carolina States.

Pokémon: 15
  • 4 Thundurus EX ROS
  • 4 Crawdaunt
  • 4 Corphish
  • 2 Skarmory
  • 1 Shaymin EX
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 36
  • 4 Professor Birch's Observations
  • 3 AZ
  • 2 Xerosic
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 1 Team Flare Grunt
  • 4 Vs Seeker
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 4 Head Ringer
  • 3 Super Scoop Up
  • 3 Trick Coin
  • 3 Crushing Hammer
  • 2 Escape Rope
  • 1 Enhanced Hammer
Energy: 9
  • 3 Flash Energy
  • 6 Lightning Energy
Strategy:

The goal of this deck(as stated above) is to discard energy. Crawdaunts ability discards an energy attached to the defending pokemon when played down to evolve. I use AZ and Super Scoop Up to reuse it and Shaymin EX. You can get almost any pokemon active with Lysandre and Escape Rope. You can Xerosic away a tool to attach a Head Ringer and use trick coin to either deal more damage or paralyze your opponent. Flash Energy helps against fighting deck but metal is still a hard match up. Please give me feedback on this the main attacker can change but I would like to keep the energy discard similar. Thanks!!

Flash Energy – Special Energy

This card can only be attached to a [L] Pokemon. If this card is attached to anything other than a [L] Pokemon, discard it. While in play, this card provides 1 [L] Energy.

The [L] Pokemon this Energy is attached to has no Weakness.

Are you sure you're using Thundurus-EX from Plasma Freeze? It says that in your decklist, but when you say, "and use trick coin to either deal more damage or paralyze your opponent," it implies that you're using Headlock with Thundurus-EX from Roaring Skies. Once you clarify this, I will have some suggestions for the decklist.

I didn't write that it mustve been edited thanks for catching that.

The only major problem I see with this deck is going second gives your opponent a pretty large advantage. They get two turns of energy attachment and a chance to evolve things, plus they get an attack in. The two ways you could combat this is by having a different starter (I'll go over possibilities) or just taking the potential damage.

-1 Thundurus-EX
-1 Professor Birch's Observations
-1 VS Seeker
-1 Ultra Ball
-2 Super Scoop Up
-2 Enhanced Hammer
-1 Flash Energy

+3 Rayquaza-EX (Colorless) or Skarmory (ROS)
+2 Battle Compressor
+2 Crushing Hammer
+2 Team Flare Grunt

It may seem weird to remove one of your main attacker, but with 3 Thundurus and 3 Ultra Ball, there's a very high chance you can get one on your bench and start setting up, or get one in hand if you go first. The Rayquaza or Skarmory are just 2 starters I thought fit best. Rayquaza can do 60 damage to an EX for one energy, great for applying pressure while you set up Thundurus. Skarmory goes with a different approach, using the one energy to search out some Corphish or Thundurus. I removed a Birch's Observations because with your high count of VS Seekers and the addition of 2 Battle Compressor, you can easily get and reuse them. Same with the removal of some Super Scoop Up. 4 AZ, plus 2 Super Scoop Up, 3 VS Seeker and a load of energy disruptions cards lets you burn through all of your opponents energy without having to run 4 Super Scoop Up. I removed 2 of the Enhanced Hammers in favor or 2 Crushing Hammers, which - while hampered by coin flip - can remove any energy, and you also have other cards like Xerosic and Team Flare Grunt to help.

Do you mind if I test this list on TCGONE? It seems like an interesting, fun deck to play.

I would love it if you could test it! I don't have anyone to test with so please do and tell me the results. I would love to run crushing hammer but doesn't it get rotated out? But as for the other suggestions I will definitely test them out thanks so much and please keep it up. :)

There actually is a reprint of Crushing Hammer in the Kalos Starter Set, which will still be legal post rotation.

YAY

YAY!!! I really wanted to use it but I thought it was rotated that's great. I like the Skarmory idea a lot but on my first test by myself prized 3 corphish a crawdaunt and 2 energy.
