Year round school

Let's do the math.

36 weeks X 5 = 180 days. - 10 days for winter break (Apx) -10 days for spring break (Apx) - 10 days for miscelleneous other days of, = 150 days of school. 150/36= about 4.2. That means that we would go to school Mon-Thur, and Mon-Fri on every months 5th week (If it has one). Also, if we didn't have so much non-elective junk we have to do, the school day wouldn't have to be soo long. I honestly wouldn't mind going to school at 7:00 if school could be done by lunch.
36 weeks? Well... that's not much. I have 40 weeks (+ 2 weeks winter break, 7 weeks summer break, 1 week break in autumn and two separate weeks break in spring)

I have... 37 weeks of school. 6 weeks of summer, 2 weeks of christmas, 2 weeks of Easter, 3 weeks of Halfterm.

I have 42 weeks of school. If you count the extras. ;]

You people are all forgetting something very important here...

Kids need time to be... well, kids. lol Stop trying to turn them all into little zombies who do nothing but work. There's enough of that for later in life.

And for the record, I've always hated being forced to learn anything. Not everyone learns the same way. Some people do better in a more flexible environment. I personally have always learned best when I was given some guidance, and teh chance to explore. Being force fed from some textbook all year would definitely not have helped me learn at all.

I agree with you to a certain degree. I would love to have time periods where I don't have to think about tests, or school. Summer is good for relaxation, since that is one stress taken off us. The problem is that if Teachers/Schools would be more flexible, some students would ruin it for the rest of us, and abuse their privileges.
