I remember read the pshychology journal *back in collage* about the peers who prefer 2D character rather than 3d.
Female in Japan, based on the surveys, are 65% career and money oriented person. They are into suscessfull person *at lease more than them*.

On the other hand 45% male in Japan have not fixed job *depend on their parent or part time jobs*. They come to 'into' 2D girls since they are:
1. Seems more Innocent
2. Seems more interest to them than their money
3. All man still have needs

*sorry if I spell wrong some words, just wake up and too lazy to recheck everything.*

If it makes anyone feel better, or worse, one of the earlier games on 3DS released in Japan was a dating simulator. You could use the gyroscope to move the 3DS to look--I'm going to stop before this gets too weird.
