Your claim to religion?

Humans are highly impressionable. Thousands of people truly rely on religion to simply make it through the week. This mentall dependence on religious activities can be just as strong as that of many other basic needs.. While you can argue that there is no true supernatural benefit to religion, the psychological evidence is there.

As much as I'd like everyone to be Atheist, this is something that stops me from 'encouraging' people to 'not be religious' (for want of better phrasing). Some people wouldn't cope without religion and so long as that religion doesn't get in the way of the rights of other people (and animals etc) then fair enough.

I believe in God because I want to believe that there is life after death. It's farfetched, I know. But if there is a heaven, I want to go there. If there isn't, then it won't really matter. I've tried to imagine what life would be like if I didn't exist. But I am never able to do it because it isn't really possible IMO. I don't go to church because I don't need a building and a bunch of people preaching to me the same thing every Sunday. I know wrong from right. The end. So yes, I believe in God. The thing is, no one can prove nor disprove a higher entity, and that, my friends, is a part of life.
I know what you mean a hundred percent, like you want there to be something after death, not just blackness(whatever you wanna call it). I agree how can you not prove he's not there or if he isn't which is a big issue. You really took the words out of my mouth.

I get loads of hate for my view. And no, I'm not an atheist or a hard core "You're all going to hell" type of so-called hyper Christian.

I believe in God. Absolutely. I grew up with a mom who is catholic and a dad who is an atheist. Dad pushed atheism on me and when he moved out, mom pushed Catholicism on me. Eventually, I seen it as "If you believe in God you have to go to a building and sit down and listen to a guy talk for an hour and that's boring" so I took my fathers side and became an atheist and hard core evolution believer. Many years later... (it was 2010 to be exact) I started to believe in God. This brings up the question of which religion I am.

Which am I? The answer is where the hate comes from.
I don't care and am repulsed to label myself with a religious title. The way I've always seen it is that people from one religion is always getting hate from people of other religions and them themselves casting hate upon people of other religions. I can't do or tolerate it. I can't bash a person for what they believe in, no can I tolerate being bashed for my own beliefs. To each their own and to each an opinion and to each the right to believe or not.

If you ask me if I'm religious, I'll say "I believe in God"
If you ask me what my religion is, I'll say "None"

And that is where I stand. As a believer in God, I say bless you all.

Sorry if I have offended.

So you're a Deist to be exact? A god but not committed to any recognized religion?

Ah that sounds right. Never heard of it before, sadly. I'm embarrassed. Thanks a lot.

Personally, I am a Christian and have been my whole life. I've always found the idea of there being a God out to be there quite helpful at times, especially during times of trouble. My dad died last December, and I honestly don't see how other people can get through a tragedy like that without God; it was hard enough for me.

As for other religions, I don't question why you believe what you believe. If you've found something that works for you - that really, truly, makes you happy - then great, go for it. I am absolutely ashamed of others in my own religion who force their beliefs down other people's throat because they think everyone else is wrong - that is NOT what my God is about. My God is a God of love, and I wish to treat others the same way.

(Oh, and did you know there's a religion devoted to Arceus? Arceology.)

Go figure. If that's true it doesn't surprise me at all. People are nuts these days.

I am glad you feel that way. It's good to know you believe in a loving God and yet are disgusted by the people who shove their religion on others. I understand people thinking they should tell people about the God they believe it. That's fine. People just take it too far and use threats and hate as a fall back if you reject them.

I believe in Christianity but think about this: The human brain is very fascinating. It can make up comparisons and why couldn't it just utterly make up a deity to "comfort" itself?

The brain does allow us to create such figures for comfort, but can we really say God is an example of this? Many religions believe in many Gods. There is a ton of them, and most of the Gods want everything to be about them and them alone. Others want what's best for us. Others put us on Earth to troll us by putting us on a one way trip to Hell with no way of backing out. It's in our mind to accept none, one or more God(s) and to reject what is left.

Faith is believing in what the eye can't see. I believe there is a God. That's my belief.

I recently became a Christian (started going to church) and I must say it's helped a lot, partly because I've never been sure about meaning of life and all that. There's a bit I won't go into, but basically I was a bit 'lost' and then my mum started going to church so I went with her (that was the beginning of last year).

I myself am an agnostic atheist (I don't believe in any deity, but I don't believe a deity can be proven or disproven). I have no inherent problem with religious people. It's when they begin to force their religion down others' throats that I have an issue. Also, when they believe that their particular religion is the absolute truth, beyond reasonable doubt. There is a such thing as faith, but out of all the religions and gods that claim they're the truth, only one (or none) can be. Which one is it?

That's not to say there aren't agnostics/atheists (and Pastafarians - those damn Pastafarians) that are nuisances in themselves. I don't support the berating of anyone's belief systems. Live and let live, as long as one is not hurting anyone else.

I am a Christian, I am not the throw it down your throat person that goes against Christianity, in my perspective. I think there is a Heaven after death, and I believe in miracles from God.....personal reason. I am a Christian because I believe what I was taught throughout out my life, went through several types of churches, that we are inherently evil and are taught good. I think the Westboro Church is insane with the out right disrespect for people who fought for us and died. I do see other Religions as equals and respect them. I in fact believe in the bible even though it has holes like esau wife.... You got think alot of the books are in there :p which does not make sense.
