Yeah, I think there will be a rival in Black & White. Hopefully this one is more of a challenge, with stronger Pokemon.

I recall seeing a B/W Anime article, and it states that a rival, who looks similar to Paul, will be appearing in the Anime. I'm not sure if this will be the game rival, but as there have hardly been any game rivals making impressive appearances in the Anime *cough*Lucas and Brendan*cough*, this may be an entirely different rival-look at how much appearances Paul has made, and compare that with Barry.
Anyway, there will be a rival. If it follows the pattern of D/P/P, then (s)he will be a friend from before, or if it follows what HG/SS did then (s)he will be a person who you don't know, and will often call you a wimp/weakling.

Why would there not be a rival? They've done a rival since R/B. You need to work on your thread. Maybe post what you think the rival will look like, his/her attitude, etc. You can't just post, "Will there be a rival?" Then a bunch of smiley faces. You need to think about your thread.
As per to your question, I want a girl rival, that's hardcore. Like Paul was, in the anime. That would be cool.

No, they're not going to have a rival, the game creators told me.
I want a girl rival who is superior, like Paul vs. Ash superior. But I want her to be another nice rival, I don't see why the nice rivals have to be weak. Being so much stronger than you would still give that sense of accomplishment.

I was also thinking that maybe there would be like 3 pictures of people and the Professor would ask you to pick one of the 3 to be your rival.
You should be able to choose the gender of your rival, if you ask me. >.>

idk know if you have seen the pic but i think the dude with green hair and white and black hat is your rival yet also your older brother since he resembles the protaganist/players a lot. but i think he should beat you the first time you battle him in the begining but you end up kicking his butt later
I want the rival to be the opposite Gender of what you chose and let them be your brother/sister, The Professor to be your Mom and a Gym Leader (or elite 4 member) to be your Dad.
