Hi Folks wondering if you could give me some tips on my Hydregion Yvetal deck and let me know if there is anything I should change up and look for: Like the title of the post says this is my first ever deck and I'm sure theres room for improvement so any and all help will be appreciated I have switched over from playing magic where I ran a red aggro deck which was quick and hard hitting if that helps at all.

Im not sure about the 4 x Unknowns and Im not sure if I am running to many items and too few pokemon.

Pokemon: 17
  • 2 Yvetal EX
  • 3 Hydregion
  • 3 Deino
  • 1 Zwelious
  • 2 Dedenne
  • 2 Miltank
  • 4 Unknown (farewell letter)
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 28
  • 2 Tierno
  • 3 Lysandre
  • 1 Winona
  • 3 Shauna
  • 1 Professor Letter
  • 3 Lucky Helmet
  • 1 Muscle Band
  • 1 Enhanced Hammer
  • 3 Rare Candy
  • 1 Switch
  • 5 Ultra Ball
  • 2 Energy Switch
  • 2 Faded Town
Energy: 16
  • 12 Darkness Energy
  • 4 Dangerous Energy
Strategy:

Any help appreciated many thanks in advance. On a side note my collection is coming along nicely lol

This deck is pretty good for some ones first deck however there are some issue with it
1. You can only have 4 of any one card and you have 5 ultra ball so cut one of those also you have 61 cards in you deck so you need to cut some thing.
2. Your deck lacks strong draw and 3 Shauna and 2 tierno isn't going to cut it so I recommend you cut some things for professors sycamore.
3 your deck has a lot of energy a bit to much so I recommend you cut some of them. Also dangerous energys are not very good so I recommend you cut it for double colorless energys which will alow you to power up yveltal quicker.
4. dedenne isn't very good Yveltal does what it does better I recommend you cut it for 2 more yveltal ex
5. Muscle band is way better than lucky helmet so I recommend you remove luck helmet and replace them for more muscle band
6. If you can get your hands on vs seeker I would put 3-4 of them in your deck they as they alow you to reuses supporters
7. Also Winona doesn't really fit this deck I would replace it with Pokemon fan club.
8 the unknown didn't really fit this type of deck so I recommend you cut them.

Over all I would make these changes to the deck
- 2 dedenne
- 4 unknown
- 2 tierno
- 1 lysandre
- 1 Winona
- 3 lucky helmet
- 1 ultra ball
- 4 dark energy
- 4 dangerous energy

+ 2 yveltal Ex
+ 4 sycamore
+ 1 Pokemon fan club
+ 3 muscle band
+ 1 sacred ash
+ 3 vs seeker
+ 2 level ball
+ 1 Xerosic
+ 4 double colorless energy

Cheers for the post back much appreciated.

I don't have many if any of the cards you have suggested so I will need to go out and look at picking some up but I have made a few changes to hopefully build my deck a little hardier. i have only just started collecting and playing so I am limited at the moment to cards I have to build from.

Pokemon:
4 x Meowth ( one with act tough and the other with feeling fne hoping the additional draw cards will help run through deck)
2 x Persian
2 x Miltank
3 x Hydregion
1 x Zweilous
3 x Deino
2 x Yvetal EX

Stadium
2 x Faded Town

Supporter
2 x Tierno
3x Shauna
3 x Lysandre
1 x Winona

I don't have any other supporter cards that look like they would be able to help me so I am holding these until I can grab hold of some sycamores

Items

2 x Energy Recycler
1 x Lucky Helmet
1 x Enhanced Hammer
3 x Professor Letter
2 x Level Ball
1 x Switch
4 x Ultra Ball
1 x Muscle Band
2 x Energy Switch
3 x Rare Candy

12 Dark Energy

Looking forward to hearing back on the updated deck hope these improvements will help me out until I can pick up some of the other cards. At the moment I'm going for just enjoying the game and winning the odd one without being massively competitive because from what I hear like most things to be competitive you need to spend a lot of money on the hobby so I want to try it out before looking at building a deck that can be competitive at every level.

If these changes are official, could you please update the deck list in the original post? Thanks!
