Hey, Pokebeach! I've been out of the game for about 5 years now, but I'm just now getting back into it, and the new Phantom Gate scans gave me an idea for a new take on Politoed.
Pokemon (21):
Strategy:
I think it's pretty obvious. Politoed's ability allows the other Poli's to attack for free; Celebi EX allows Politoed and Poliwrath to use Poliwhirl's Finishing Blow for free (it's Poliwhirl's attack, so it's covered by Politoed's ability even though Politoed's own attacks are not); the new 'Bats are there to put damage counters all over the opponent's playfield, allowing Finishing Blow to deal 100 damage rather than 50; Dimensional Valley is there to allow the 'Bats to attack for free if they end up in the active spot; AZ is there to scoop them back to my hand so I can play them again.
Potential flaws: This is the first deck I've attempted to design since Nationals '09, lol. I made it up just now, so it hasn't been playtested at all, but I'm a little scared of VerGen, Garbodor, and Seismitoad, all of which I expect to be quite popular. My trainers and supporters probably need some work, but I don't really know what to do with them. Like I said, this is my first deck in 5 years, so I'm not very familiar with all the various trainers and supporters. After I playtest it (hopefully this weekend) I'll have a little better idea how to improve it, but for now, I'd love to hear you guys' advice.
Okay, so if I were to replace the 'bat line with Forretress, what do you think of this? No AZ because I figure I might as well only use cards that are actually released at this point
Updated List:
Pokemon (17):
Somehow I feel even less confident about this list, lol. I went 1-1 with the stadiums, because they both benefit me, and I figure if one stadium is less advantageous against the opponent's deck (for instance, plasmas aren't affected by Frozen City, and I don't want to give the opponent's evolutions extra HP with Training Center) I can play the other one. I feel like 4 Megaphone is necessary to stand any chance against Garbodor, but if I get item-locked by Seismitoad in addition, I think I'm SOL. I mean, without Politoed's ability, I can't attack, ever, so my only hope is to megaphone away Garbodor's tool.
