    It isn't wrong to discard an initial idea you have for something after you realize it doesn't work as well as you hoped. Don't worry over it.

    Lucky Fire, that's good. Just remember to go at your own pace, but at the same time, don't breeze over things that are vital to the story, such as plot points or character development. You probably want to spend time on those.

    Lucky Fire, don't make going for a set number of chapters your primary goal. Your primary goal should be making your plot progress at a speed you feel is adequate - neither too slow nor too fast. If you can reach a set number, then great, but don't make that your focus.

    I'm also finished with my story, Journey, but I feel that when I read it, it feels too short, even through I put in 1103 words.

    You said you finished the story. Does that mean it's only going to be 1 chapter long? If so, that is the definition of a "one-shot".

    I'm doing all right. I'm basically ready for my classes which start next week, and I spent a little more time working on my fanfic.

    I don't see why not. The only issue might be that your story may seem a little unfocused if you don't tie-in each character's connection to the main plot, though. That's just something Zyflair pointed out to me in my fanfic Biohazard since I used a similar tactic by having a small series of chapter preludes that were centered around characters other than my protagonist.
    Sorry I didn't say it the other day, but good luck on your new story. I've been meaning to write some short stories again that aren't just Pokemon-related, particularly the fantasy story I submitted as an entry for the first installment of the Round-Robin. However, I find myself sort of distracted from it now that I've actually picked up where I left off with my Feral Twilight story.
