    Stargate

Considering it's one of the longest running and most popular television sci-fi shows, I'm pretty sure we've heard of it. I'm of the opinion it's enjoyable, but nowhere near the caliber of the film.

    Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

I've read the manga and vastly prefer it to the original anime, and I can say that this has nothing to do with filler. The original anime had absolutely zero filler, if by "filler" you mean extended animation per episode to stretch out time (ala Neon Genesis Evangelion and five minutes of cicada...

    Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Hate to say it, since I was looking forward to it, but it sucks. They're plain rushing it... Gone through about 10 episodes' worth of the previous anime in only three episodes of this run. While I understand that they've "done it before", and want to get to a point where they're on a new path...

    Family Guy

Uhh... No. Since when are "prom sluts" and "dumpster babies" a widespread "generic belief"? I've been to several proms and have so many siblings and cousins; never heard of that until Family Guy. You can't honestly say they had a legitimate message when airing that skit. It was simply trying to...

    Family Guy

The difference is, that's called satire. It had a message. There was a reason behind it... Can you tell me there was a reason behind the "prom date dumpster baby" song?

    Family Guy

Nothing South Park has ever said/done has made me just be sick having watched it.

    Family Guy

South Park actually has a message with nearly all of their episodes of the last few years, whereas the only message Family Guy seems to want to give is that marijuana is great and Christians suck. I've also never seen South Park make a Stolen joke, though Cartman is heavily implied to have been...

    Family Guy

I can complain if I like, because this thread is about "discussing" the show

    Family Guy

It's horribly offensive and disgusting. Every single episode, without exception, makes a Stolen, molestation, or abortion joke. Hilarious.

    Artemis Fowl?

I'm an English major with editing as my education/career path. I know a few things about writing and reading, and Colfer really isn't that good. At least literary critics and the reviews of his work agree with me.

    Artemis Fowl?

As Lt. Houndoom said, it was the third one. However, Artemis did find out his true name. I never stated that the books focused around Butler. I simply said that using the descriptor "manservant" every time was bad writing. Let me ask you, would it be acceptable and enjoyable to read a work...

    Old magazines

That's really cool. Why did you decide to keep them after so long?

    Promo Card Catalog and Scans

RE: Pokémon Promo Cards v.2. >_> Yes, I'm aware of that. But so far I haven't been able to turn up a truly official reference for the name. An origin in something entirely official would completely change my research.

    Promo Card Catalog and Scans

RE: Pokémon Promo Cards v.2. Hm. I'm curious about the "Pikablu" part... And I know old issues of CoroCoro are hard to come by.

    Promo Card Catalog and Scans

RE: Pokémon Promo Cards v.2. What exactly do you mean by "Pikablu"? Is that what CoroCoro actually said?

    Artemis Fowl?

I'm aware he's a manservant. But there are synonyms to that word, of which the narrator (IE: Colfer) could have used to mix it up a bit. It's like if you called your main character a "fiery redhead" each and every time you wanted to say something about them. After a certain point you start to...

    Artemis Fowl?

Yes, it would. A writer is fine to use certain words and phrases to define their style, but it's not something that should be done 20+ times in a single book. If you notice it, it's bad writing.

    Old magazines

Sounds cool. Have an image for that Pokemon edition?

    Artemis Fowl?

I'm not so-much criticizing his writing style as his ability to write. As a couple of examples, Butler is called Artemis' "manservant" nearly every time a word of that meaning is necessary. Colfer apparently couldn't open up a thesaurus and use a synonym. The phrase "unceremoniously", in...

    Artemis Fowl?

I quite enjoy the series. My brother bought me the first one at one of those school book faires, but at the time I thought it was a more typical fantasy. I didn't read it for over two years, and only then did I find out the technological aspect. Being a science-fiction fan, that was a good...
