I have a similar question. Do players consistently top at tournaments, or do the tournaments tend to depend on luck moreso? How expensive would it be to make a tier 1 deck like LuxChomp? How competitive is pokemon basically?

Oh, gotcha. In Yugioh, we usually call it LCQ's. Anyways, why don't you type up your deck and print it out beforehand anyways? If you can submit that, you're set, and if you can't, then no harm.
All card games are bound by factors such as luck, etc. Pokemon might not require as much skill as some games, but it's still better than getting OTK'd turn 2-3 like it is in Yugioh.
