“Battle Partners” Set Officially Revealed Featuring Owner’s Pokemon!

Just realized that there have not been a single tera with a different type since Paradox Rift... What a way to scrap the most interesting feature about Teras...

However I dont think that Tera will completely dissapear, not all trainer's Pokemons are ex, so should be place for a few more Teras but not much of them just like how VMaxs still got a few more mons in the VStar sets
I can at the very least see some promo Teras, but yeah, its sucky that we only got a few sets of different types before Stellar just ate up the last couple. At the very least, we can move on from the silly hat SAR. Those felt less fun to the gorgeous VMAX and VSTAR art most of the time.

That's not a high bar to jump over, lol

Well, Japan's on their first step of rotating the awful F and G sets. It looks like this set wants to define the power level of I set - the cards are definitely more pushed than H, which was relatively tame save for the Dusknoir fiasco. I don't really get the reason for powercreeping specifically this set, which is obviously going to sell based on full art Partner cards.
Calling F and G blocks "awful" is a wild take.

Pretty common take, knowing what kind of attendance other Leagues are reporting. It's not as dead as during SWSH, but still pretty bad.
Appealing to a single archetype of player has consequences.

Yeah, thats a shame there, as it restricts freedom with the decks. So the evo line will have to be good on its own.
it's been the entire point of owner's pokemon from the very beginning. believe it or not, "freedom" for the sake of it is not only ever purely a good thing to have. here, it's an archetype boundary. and more importantly even if every past instance of this mechanic didn't exist, we have known it would be this way this time for months because of Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex.

i would be willing to put money on no one having their specific generational gimmicks represented, hence why Marnie isn't packing any kind of Gigantamax Grimmsnarl (much less going as far as to be VMAX), but if any of them is going to be retained in some fashion here it'll probably be Tera. i just wouldn't hold my breath.

also, Tera Bug Espathra ex, Tera Electric Wugtrio ex, Tera Dark Farigiraf ex, Tera Electric Revavroom ex and Tera Fighting Greninja ex were all from sets after Paradox Rift.

Man i really hope we’ll have a new type of holographism on these cause the glossy trashy star pattern on actual ex’s just look so lame and cheap like it ruins the cards sooo bad
Totally agree. It washes the card art out and makes the ex cards look almost like fake knockoffs

I'm excited to see what the Trainers' Pokemon has to offer but my only fear is them focusing too hard on this mechanic and not really allowing non-Trainers' cards to mesh well with them. Trade Zoroark is obviously fantastic and Lillie's Clefairy will do nicely with Gardy post rotation but if they're abandoning Teras then we might as well call the past two years a complete dud in experimentation cause all people use Teras now are for Underdepths shenanigans and they're protected by a pretty bogus rule applied to those ex's specifically.

This only means from now on the cards introduced henceforth will be particularly vulnerable to the Stage 2 ex's that have plagued standard since mid 2023, which aren't going anywhere cause there are still cards that can speed up evolution. We will need these next ex's to be particularly strong against the strongest of these past couple of years for there to be a paradigm shift or else Zard, Dragapult, and Hydreigon will terrorize the formats until they're rotated out while using Dusknoir from avoiding our only item locker which will be a silly tiny plant guy.

whether we'll see that or not will be pretty interesting, given that i'd think they would want Tera as a mechanic to cleanly rotate with H later down the line.
They didn’t care about VMaxes cleanly rotating out last rotation, plus we have so much Tera support just introduced a few sets ago it would be kind of crazy if they dont give us anything else that could take advantage of it. Tera is a generational mechanic like Gigantamax/Dynamax so it probably won’t get tossed to the side like the Lost Zone or Battle Styles (while I think Ancient/Future is more likely to not get printed again).

Yeah, I personally really don’t see Tera going away right now. VMAX lasted until the end of its generation even after VSTAR came around, and there will probably be ex cards of non Trainer’s Pokémon, or they can just get by with Sudowoodo, Mismagius, Glimmora, etc if they do a couple Paldea characters.

I really hope they don't stop making more paradox cards because Future Box needs more coverage, like it's not even funny. Ancient Mons get a basic rulebox that one-shots, another that uses a completely unrelated mon as an engine, another that feeds off of discarding, another very strong fire type, and a Koraidon that works off of all of them. Future Box only has Thorns, Leaves and Hands and it has an incredible accelerator. Iron Moth ex and Iron Jugulis ex should be made at the very least, Fire and Darkness respectively.
