“Prismatic Evolutions” Demand Higher than Supply, Allocations Severely Cut to Local Stores

But this doesn't mean overall supply is low. If a bookstore has 10 etbs of this set and a game store has 50 etbs of this set then there is as many to go around as there would be if the same game store had 55 and the bookstore had 5.

Watching the prices of these etbs+ packs go sky high is upsetting. I love the TCG as much as the next person but ultimately these are cards largely marketed to kids. I feel like theres an issue when a product can’t even reach it’s primary audience..

I watched the CostCo rush for Blooming Waters earlier today and I don't think I've ever seen so much apathy from the workers around the investor bros, like they don't think to limit the damn amount that people can buy per day. I'm very scared for the overall affordability of even PLAYING the TCG, especially since this set in particular has a few extremely important cards that will define the next few years.

Pre orders are never good: if fans find out the pre ordered set is bad like shrouded fable they'll cancel their pre orders. And when the set is too good their pre order will get cancelled because shop owner can make more profit.

This is why Battle Partners is ultimately good. It doesn't have any major chase cards so it'll detract scalpers while also having some decent additions to deck archetypes
I don’t know, they haven’t shown everything from that and lots of people will be happy to see trainer’s Pokémon come back after so long.

they need to try and make more Pokemon marketable than Pikachu, starters and Eeveelutions. Come on buttlickers, make Boldore the darling of the Pokemon world.
I don’t think it is their fault, but rather us brainless western fans only likening o s or two cool looking pokemon. The problem doesn’t really exist in Japan.

I've never seen "scalpers" like you said buying up all the product and clearing the shelfs, now I've seen countless dudes grabbing cart full of product strictly for them to open and you call them "scalpers" because they don't just buy 1 etb and leave the rest for other people? The only time I saw anything remotely close to those videos at costco was on black Friday at Target they only had 5 of each etb for $20 i was first in line i took what I wanted i took all 5 of the lost origins etbs and 5 of the the brilliant stars etbs and left the rest, why? Because I wanted them now am I a scalper because I bought all the product, or because I intend to sell those etbs when they go up in price? No again that's how this hobby works, The majority of people buying up all the product is YOU not "scalpers" take th grey felt Pikachu promo card for example it was bought up by people wanting to send it away to get a PSA 10 so they would buy 9 or 10 cards just for that, now what are you going to do with the rest of those cards because you know that they're not all 10s you probably ended up 7-8 PSA 9s and only 1-2 10s from the 10 cards you bought, you can't say youre going to keep all of them there's no reason you really only need one 1 of the PSA 10s so what do you do now after spending hundreds of dollars on the cards and the grading? That's right you're going to sell them; that doesn't make you a scalper that's part of the hobby buy, sell, trade and if you want to talk about why the price is $127 for an ETB of prismatic right now we'll you already answered yourself; it's because there isn't a guaranteed allocation for stores and they dont know exactly how much they're going to get so they're going to charge you more as a safety net again the product hasn't released yet and since you want yours to be a guarantee so you can have one before anyone else and not have to drive to the store to find one you have to pay a premium. I can guarantee that this set will be produced the same as 151 was at Target and Best buy you can just walk in and be able to buy it no one's going to be sitting there tearing it off the shelves buying up every last item just to try and resell it this is going to be you people grabbing as much as you can afford because you want to try and get the Umbreon, and as for the pokemon company not printing enough they really absolutely 100% do not care if you can't get one. They will print what they have planed already, probably the same amount as any other previous qset, and that's it because they're going to make thousands regardless all they care about is selling the product they don't care if it's all bought up in the first week that's just massive profit for them infact they want you to buy up all of it and clear the shelves they don't care who buys it from the store just as long as they buy it

don’t know a single regular collector who bought more than one of that card, or any regular collector harrasing people at the museum for it. So what are you on about? To me, anyone who buys Pokemon cards for profit, rather than for the game and the franchise, is a scalper. Anyone who cast any other card than the one chase card aside too. Most people on social media don’t even know the names of the pokemon or which cards they already have. It’s disgusting to me.

Honestly, these are very ugly scenes. Personally, I live in France, and we also have issues with cuts and scalpers here. Nevertheless, this hobby was originally a hobby for true enthusiasts, and I don't understand why, instead of constantly complaining, you allow these people to act this way right in front of you. That’s the worst part. Why not stand united so that scalpers wouldn’t even dare to behave like this anymore?

What’s even more outrageous is the role of the store employees. Is it normal for a retailer to let people grab whatever they want without any moderation? Honestly, apart from the USA, I’ve never seen this happen in any other country. Take charge of your hobby because the American model is influencing other countries, along with its toxic behaviors that are destroying our passion.

Be united as fellow enthusiasts. Don’t let people act like this in front of you. Instead of recording with your phone, take action.

Rationalize it all you want, dude. People that buy up large volumes of sealed product or promos are kinda lame. They might not be as bad as scalpers and "investors", but they all work together to make buying product worse for everyone else. TPCi and retailers aren't helping either.

I might end up passing on this set until the hype dies down since I don't think the stress of trying to get the packs is worth it, and aside from the Eeveelutions I'm not interested in any cards in this set. I was going to try to get an ETB because I thought we'd be getting better reprints but... eh there's nothing I'm really looking for, and aside from Budew there's nothing I want to slot into decks I already have (rip Blaziken, you would have solved a specific problem in one deck). I'm not that big on the 5ban Graphics art to buy for Eevee otherwise.

I'm a TCG player who is extremely invested in the hobby, living in Tokyo since 2020 and seeing all things Pokémon up close here in Japan.

The problem 100% does exist here.
