Ariana literally didn't even have a name for the first 10 years she existed. She was not an important character in the slightest until HGSS came along and had to pretend like the bland executives with six lines of dialogue each were actual characters (still didn't work IMO tbh!).

Giovanni not actually appearing in the story of the Johto games made it less of a leap for them to fill in the backstory that he's Silver's father, but Silver is present during multiple schemes involving Ariana within the storyline and narratively it would be really dumb for nobody in the game to comment that he's fighting against his own mother. Plus, if Ariana was so close to Giovanni in the past, why is Archer the actual leader of Neo TR?

Like sure she COULD be Silver's mother since nothing is ever said about Silver's mother in any direction but there's also no actual implication towards that conclusion in the games, in the show, in the manga, etc whatsoever beyond the two having red hair. By that logic Lorelei could be Silver's mother. Or a werewolf, since that's never deconfirmed either.

I never get opinions like this oh yeah show me the super deep character you love Im sure it has actual nuance. Please, obviously 96% of the cast has the same limited amount of lines this is pokemon after all

Uh yeah I agree with you that Pokemon as a series has no deep characters and everything about its story is very surface level. Therefore there isn't some super secret lore that Ariana is actually Silver's mother because the games are simple and straightforward and they would hint at something like that.

I couldn’t wait for rocket’s mewtwo ex alt art to get revealed. Last time I’ve been this excited for a card to get revealed was m mewtwo ex full art from xy break through. I must say this has to be one of the lamest alt arts ever. At least regular full art and gold look great, much better that alt art. I was hoping alt art would look something like mewtwo gx secret rare aka mewtube or that mewtwo ex from pokemon tcg pocket. Good thing is i wont have to spend $200-300 on it. My disappointed is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

While I understand that everyone has different tastes, and I respect that, why does this card seem so disliked? I personally don't think it's half bad. It doesn't have the same story element that Mewtube has, but it's nice art.

The perspective and scale on both Giovanni and Mewtwo is awkward as well as generic. It also shares far too much similarity to the Pokemon GO Mewtwo V, so while it's a main chase it comes across redundant. One reason Mewtube is so beloved is because it encapsulates a unique part of the lore. I believe people expected something in that vain (rightfully so) because of its attachment to the set theme of Team Rocket/Giovanni. It's a fine card but falls well short of its potential.

It's lazy and uninspired. It looks like a basic Full Art, and kind of goofy to boot. I am not saying I won't try to complete the English set, because I'm a completionist with OCD and it's extremely irksome to have a binder incomplete (or a series, for that matter). But I only pick up the Japanese ARs and SARs for Pokemon I don't already have for my Dex binder. So really only the (thankfully beautiful) Clamperl, the... goofy and ugly Weezing, the disappointing Murkrow (still very sad about this), the thankfully pretty good looking and probably somewhat cheap Blaziken so I don't have to rip out my teeth to sell on the black market for the Alt Art from the SWSH era, the Raticate (which also looks goofy and dumb), and the Kangaskhan, which I actually like despite not really liking the Pokemon much. Kind of wish they had finished the Clamperl line, since I really like Huntail and Gorebyss is decent enough.

Yes, that makes sense. I'm a huge fan of cards with lore.
