(1) ALL 'Next Destinies' Scans [1/26]

The preview packs are disgusting and need to disappear forever. I thought the same thing about them -- that they were included to inflate the price without adding anything of actual value.

From what I see, the kids are divided into either what was described above with that Kyurem, where they're disappointed they didn't get what they have, or their parents are practically living pots of gold. There was a pre-release I had gone to sometime last year where a mother brought six kids along. Now, this pre-release location was so popular that there were two events held that day as attendees sometimes exceed the capacity of the room. She wanted these six kids to play in both of them that day. I overheard an argument between her and the tournament organizer who was trying to tell her the point of having two events that day. Nevertheless, she was going to spend $300 right there on something that probably wouldn't keep the kids' attention for a week.

It's the same deal with those kids who must be 9 years old or so carrying like three boxes of booster packs. Those kids annoy me, to be frank.

And yeah, I was about to use Netflix as an example but I cut it out for length. What happened was that people who wanted to rent movies turned to Redbox, their biggest competitor, because Redbox's fees stayed exactly the same. Companies know this might happen, so when a company decides to change something so that its customers have to spend more money, it means they're certain enough people will remain. Obviously, this was not the case with Netflix, so the fees went back down. If sales increase for Magic and/or Yu-Gi-Oh! (or even some of the minor ones like Legend of the Five Rings or Naruto), while sales decrease for Pokémon (or have decelerated growth), then Nintendo will fix this later lest they alienate a chunk of their audience forever.

Every company that intends to last a while will do this sooner or later. It's all a gamble from the company's point of view; I must admit this is a pretty risky gamble if Pokémon-EX are really that rare. Since this is a TCG with high-profile tournaments, it has the additional effect of making it more into a "rich man's game"--that is, because desirable cards go up in price, the only ones who can remain competitive are the ones who can afford to. I can tell you this is what's happening to the University of California campuses: It's had a series of fee increases and shrinking scholarships, so now fewer students are coming in from impoverished families and more from wealthy families.

IMO, people who want to buy a booster box can, and the people who don't want to shouldn't put them down for their decision. It's not YOUR money that they're spending, so... ANyways, myself, I know I'll be getting a booster box of this set. I really enjoy the artwork on these cards and, back in the day, the EXes were my favourite series. Sure, the pull rates are junk in this set, but , as stated earlier, this is most probably just a test. You can probably expect the next set to have 4-5 EXes per box, as TPCI will probably realize the mistake of the lower pull rates. Harkening back to EX Ruby and Sapphire, there were only 8 EXes in that set, but the pull rates were also 1 in 12 packs, and they were also in the spot of the rare. In addition, most kids don't even know about pull rates. They just buy packs and hope to get the "cool" Pokemon. After all, isn't Pokemon marketed towards the younger people? If it was marketed towards teens and adults then we would see many different types of advertisements and they would have more intense card rules, but, this isn't Magic. It's Pokemon. And me, myself, I LOVE Pokemon and I'll never stop loving it.

I 100% agree with Ophie. Pokemon is extremely fun, and with that, many players are left behind in meta-game due to the fact that many of the top cards are way beyond their budget. I have no real money to buy good cards. I play the TCG to have fun, and I usually have fun when I'm winning, as does most people. If the meta-game gets really expensive, Pokemon TCG will have lost a HUGE chunk of it's players.

MOT, yeah, the pull rate for EXs, as according to Magnezone_Elf, was very high on this set, so to increase sales, they would reduce the pull rate for EXs so the audience (us) would buy more packs, hoping to get EXs because we bought more packs, there by increasing their income budget to use for future products, such as video-games.

It seems EXs are more common then their supposed to be. Luckily, I've got a bunch of great cards from all kinds of different sets, so I might be able to make trades for some EXs. I hope I pull at least one!!! I want the full art Zekrom so bad! If anyone at my prerelease gets Zekrom-EX full art, I'll give them a deal that will completely be better for them! Sadly, little kids like Zekrom. They don't really care that he's extremely playable. I feel that I'll be able to trade for some EXs with my collection though :D

Really looking forward to opening some of these packs!
Crossing my fingers for Mewtwo EX!

When I first heard about the EX cards in this set, I was very excited. After seeing the large number rares though, I could only think about how much I disliked CoL. As there is zero competitive play where I live, I would consider myself a collector (or a kid, ha) -- a collector on a strict budget. This set was going to be the one where I bought my first box but, I've decided to split a box with my friend who also never buys boxes. :p

YES!! Those darn preview packs are a SUCH A WASTE!! I opened a triple blister last week (for the Litwick promo), and gave the preview pack to my 5 yr old nephew. He shouted "cool", opened it, and then said "oh what? SUUUUCK!!". He then asked me why I would pay for bad cards. HAHAHA!!! He's got such a strong point. 50% of all packs, tins, boxes--they are all wasted money on "10 cent" common cards! Of course this can't be helped but, to include a pack that has NO CHANCE whatsoever to pull anything other then three commons??! D: It's absurd! (Then again, we do collect Skylanders...)

@Blakexd9 Must...get...Zekrom-EX...full....art....
@Johnnieboilulz They've already been posted on the main page.

Thanks - guess I should have paid more attention.
This will be the first time I buy a started deck in years. Last time I bought one was when the original R/S set came out.

I am really disapointed about the pull rates in this set, I'll probably only buy some boosters because I really like the art work of some of the commons like panpour, lampent and pansear :3 If I can't even draw more than 1 holo in 9 boosters my chance of pull an EX is zero xD

I mostly want Kyurem Ex Fullart, that card is just beautiful! Do anyone know how it works with pre-order single cards from trollandtoad? Will it take a while before they get them in stock or do they already have them and will ship on the release day? I want to pre-order a Kyurem, but I am a bit nervous that I will take a while to get it, cause I will be going abroad 5th march :/

I don't know about preordering from them, but I have bought from them recently. I would assume they really will have multiples of every card the day the set comes out. I don't know when they would send, but when I ordered, it didn't take more than a week to get here. And I used their standard $1 shipping for single cards; if you want it to get there faster, you can choose a faster shipping method, but it'll cost more.

So in short, if you have the money and you really want that card now, I'd say go ahead and buy it. There's no reason for it to take a month to get to you.

If you want singles, check toy wiz. They have all the cards around the first day the set is release. You can also get the Japanese version there, but I don't think Japanese cards are playable here. Toywiz often ships pretty fast, so if you order around the set's release (February 8th) you'll probably get it around within the same week. It should arrive February 25th at the very latest, but I doubt it will take that long.

EDIT: Toywiz also has outstanding prices :D! Most commons are usualy only 25 cents! Kyurem-EX full art would be 20$ at most, no more, maybe less.

Actually, I object and say that Troll And Toad is better. They have pre-orders of the singles right now, and toywiz has nothing but tins. On trollandtoad,
Kyurem EX Promo: $5
Kyurem EX Ultra: $10
Kyurem EX Full: $14

I've never used troll and toad before. Thanks for showing me! Toywiz can't match this!
The Zekro-EX, Reshiram-EX, and Kyurem-EX from the tins are the same as in the set, so why charge more?

I think they have the promo star at the bottom.

And also, I think the art is different, isn't it?

Images of the tins and the sell sheet say otherwise. The pictures on Troll And Toad show the same cards from the set, even the single promo cards are the same.

@Dragon Pokémon: The images of the tins and the sellsheet show, most likely, placeholders for the real artwork, as usual...

Pidove is supposed to be in this set all along. What happened was TPCi released its evolved forms earlier in EP, thus ruining their release. The same happened with Ferroseed from this set and with Woobat/Vullaby from Dark Rush...

Don't you pay attention to the japanese sets? Just askin'...
