(1) ALL 'Next Destinies' Scans [1/26]

@Zack: Yeah, it's textured. The background is some sort of "ripple" texture, and the Pokémon itself is kind of like the old FA texture.

Also, for anyone that has any of the shiny Pokémon, is it also reverse holo? If not, what kind of holofoil did they use (if any)?

i got the shaymin EX , lucario , luxray , and SHINY HYDRAGON

Mudkip EDIT: This can go in the "I pulled something cool thread".

OMG, I can think of an epic deck with Gardevoir, Mewtwo EX, and probably Darmanitan if i'm feeling flippy.

Trust me, you're not the first person to have thought of that. I think I was, and I brought it up about a month ago.

Yes I am, and who are you?

This is starting to get off-topic guys. Take your discussion to PM or profile comments.

This sets pretty good, I thought it would be better but I'm not too disappointed. Great artwork, can't remember a set with better artwork HS-on.

The artwork for full art Reshiram-EX is a let down. I expected better. I bet Mewtwo is smiling because he knows how popular he is (in both the US and Japan) and how he's the most powerful Pokemon and he can tear every other Pokemon apart (officially confirmed. I would have thought that title went to Arceus). Mewtwo is the most powerful Pokemon, and he was in the first EX set....maybe the last set with EXs will have Arceus-EX? Start with a bang and end with a boom I guess. And, is the Pokemon company running out of ideas to the point that they are remaking EXs? Maybe it's just to bring back the old and combine it with the new full arts? Strange how EX came to the US right after the 50th set. EX are pretty much L.V. X will the name EX in capitals insted of the original lower case, with a special effect ( Zekrom's is hazardously blasting lightning everywhere, Mewtwo has his energy sphere of psychic awesomeness, Regigigas is shooting strobe shards from his hand as he has a what looks like a seizure or he's in the process of blowing a fuse).

Pffffft Zekrom and Reshiram FA artwork is a let down. They look like balloons....speaking of balloons

Look closely...

I know someone already mentioned this but look at the stage 1 circle thing. First Basculin now this...

Interesting, the design near the circle and the two black lines on the end near the hp.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the full arts in person! This is the first B&W set I'm actually excited for :) goodbye money

The shiny cards look amazing. Saw Chandelure & Emboar today. They holo up most of the card (the art,the energy symbols, the large symbol behind the text, etc.). They are basically the same style ultra-rare Pikachu from Black & White and the ultra-rare Meowth from Noble Victories.

I was pretty sure that it would be that way, but it surprised me a lot. Now it is possible that we don't get all the EX (reg or FA) in one box, which the other way it was a lot more likely (4-5 primes + 1-2 LEGENDS at worst...)

Btw, I liked how you pointed out that there are a lot of rares in the set. It makes me pretty sad to think that I can't even take most of them in one booster box D:

It's been like this the past few sets. We get more and more rares each set. Call of Legends was impossible to collect. B&W was ok, Emerging Powers was horrible, Noble Victors too and this seems to be the third set in a row...

How was Emerging Powers horrible compared to this set we're getting now? It was possible to complete EP with a single box, while it would take four boxes minimum to complete Next Destinies (not that most people would take that approach to completing it). 2-3 FAs per box when there were five in NV was also much better than 2-3 EX cards per box when there's twelve in ND...

Depends on what perspective you take it from. From a competitive standpoint EP is bad because of the lack of playable cards. From a collectors standpoint EP is good because it's easy to complete.

So would I be able to get my 6 packs and just watch some people battle it out, then when all is said and done, I can get the rest of the stuff? Do people actually do this?

I know it's already passed, but if you register at a pre-release event to get the cards, you're automatically put into the competition. There is absolutely nothing at stake; if you don't know how to play, just ask a judge or your opponent, and they should be glad to help. You can't just sit it out; if you're that afraid to play, let the tournament organizer know, and he or she will figure out something.

I mean, is that assumption wrong? It's totally possible that I'm mistaken, because I certainly don't know everything. But can anyone tell me why the regular EX's couldn't have been like Primes replacing reverses? (Other than the obvious fact that TPCI is a business, and their intent is to make money. The higher the amount of rares, the lower the possibility of getting one of those covetted Mewtwo EX's, for example, will be. Lower chances = more packs bought, trying to get multiples of one specific Ultra Rare card.)

(No one will probably read this or reply, but I figured I'd try anyway.)

The rarities of these cards are like carrots on a stick. From Nintendo's POV, the purpose of the Pokémon TCG is to make money, so they'll come up with ways to maximize profits before people get annoyed and turn to something else (or just avoid spending money on card games altogether, which is the worst outcome). The people assigning how rare these cards are know that people like you will still buy them. Until they discover a decline in sales and determine that Pokémon-EX are too rare or whatever, they're not going to become more common.

Otherwise, there'd be a Pokémon-EX in every pack. But that's just financial suicide for a TCG.

You'll probably get them next Sunday.
I'm going to prerelease, but I'm not sure how toscan cards. Do you just scan them with a printer?

With a scanner, actually.
