(1) Carracosta, Cover Fossil Revealed from 'Red Collection' [7/1]

Thus my point made many forum posts before that they won't be as easy to play as people think is correct. Hurrah, can we stop hating on Archeops now? ;)

Seems like too much trouble to get Archeops and Carracosta out now. You have to get the Trainer, hope they're within those 7 cards, power them up with 3-4 Energy over 3-4 turns, and get their evolutions.

Carracosta IMHO won't really see play due to what WPM just posted. Archeops, on the other hand, will likely be seen much more often due to his ability. He won't be used as an attacker though, for obvious reasons. 60 and spread 10 x2 for FFC is quite bad.

I LOVE what they did to fossils, having them just help you get out the Pokémon rather than act as Pokémon themselves.
LOL just kidding, it made them impossible to get out.

Oh Pokémon, you are so good to us.

I will say that while it hampers the speed you can play them there are a few cards to get the fossil back and try again, namely Junk Arm and Recycle.

And if it's prized, then what? (Namely Archen and Tirtouga, that is.)
I'll tell you what, dead card walking. Also that's assuming that the unlikely event of having all of them prized :/
EDIT~ Grammar errors

That sure as heck won't stop them from playing Archeops.

If you have a deck focused around the cards, then finding a Tirtouga or Archen in the top 7 cards of your deck really shouldn't be that difficult. Then again, it's charging them up with energy that is the problem here.

This makes using Archeops as a tech alot harder than people originally thought. Though considering how they're trying to balance out the game (Pokemon Catcher aside) it's not surprising something with such an ability would end up having some sort of "catch".

Carracosta does look like an interesting card though, even though it doesn't seem very competitive you can still based a deck around it (Gothitelle and Vileplume just ruins the idea) and occasionally flip heads every now and again and play a couple Defender to lol in your opponents face at the amount of damage you've reduced their attack by. {G} weakness isn't bad seeing as there aren't any big {G} decks in the format just yet. Red Collection is looking better and better. Though we probably won't see a majority of these decent cards until about November.

Tirtouga's ability is AMAZING. For something with 140 health, it could be ridiculously hard to KO, especially with the boosted effect of potions.

I am loving the new fossil mechanic to balance out the fossils. The only real way to put a pokemon on top of your deck is good rod or research record. I do wish Carracosta would be a bit more playable with the fossil rule. 140 HP and weakness to grass is pretty good and he COULD be charged faster if you can get a Feraligatr out, but I love his ability especially with Victory Star Victini.

Aye. They could have at least made it so you had to have both of them in your hand and play at once (similar to LEGEND cards).

Carracosta doesn't seem worth using now...Archeops on the other hand.

Not so broken now, is it?

Yeah, I figuired they wouldn't make it so easy to get out something like Archeops.

Carracosta seems like it'd be good in Kyurem/Blastoise/Feraligatr.

Have we seen a similar card before (Fossil Cards)? Oh yeah, Legend Box that never ever saw play. :(

Donphan-Archeops anyone?

4-4-4 Archeops
4-4 Donphan

Just for the Lulz.. Unless you play 3-4 of the Archen, getting Arcehops will be a pain in the behind.

There's a mistranslation for the card. The card states it has to be the BOTTOM 7 cards and if you find the corresponding basic, then place it on the bench. The remaining cards get shuffled back into the deck. I guess since it's a fossil card, you have to dig for it.
