(1) New Sword-like Pokemon, Hitotsuki [7/4]

"There are only three months left before the release of the games.
In order to not disclose everything and that everyone can discover
what they have to offer in october, I will stop there.
Hold your breath!"

Does this mean that there will be nothing new until the games release? o.o Or am I taking that too literally?

I hate to say it, but I actually cant see this Pokemon having an evolution. I think it will be single staged. I think it would be pretty cool if it had a shield counterpart though, if it isn't Bronzor. Even so, Bronzor isnt technically a shield. But I do think its interesting when they make counterparts to Pokemon from other generations (like the three forms of pollution, Weezing, Muk, and Garbodor)

And don't get me wrong, I don't hate this Pokemon by any means. I'm just not sure about it yet. Part of me says its too bland, more of just a sword than a Pokemon, and part of me thinks that its a freaking steel/ghost sword and thats awesome.
I do like how the tassel acts as its hand and the secret face it has when its sheathed.

What I can't figure out is, Why are they releasing the games this fall rather than Spring. Did Japan get it already or are they being released around the same time? I am confused XD.:)

The game's releasing in Japan and NA on the same day, October 12th.
Not sure about Europe and other places.

Pretty sure it's coming out everywhere on October 12th.

The games are being released internationally on October 12th of this year.

I love the description!
Honedge comes into being when a departed spirit inhabits a sword that once belonged to humans. It can use the blue cloth attached to its hilt as nimbly as an arm. If you were to carelessly take this blade in hand, you may find that blue cloth wrapping around you...draining the energy from your body!

Bad/Meh design, but the worst is its name. C'mon, Honedge? It's just screaming to be named as Hexcalibur.

Speaking of revealing new pokémon...

What's actually bugging me right now is that Sylveon is the only evo/pre-evo of an older pokémon to have been revealed so far...
I doubt it will be the only one but I mean, in gen 4, most of the pre-release revealed pokémon were new evos/pre-evos, so are they doing the opposite this time? Keeping them secret until the games come out?

That picture is pretty interesting.

Looks like he can unsheath himself? At least during his battle animation maybe? Steel Ghost ins certainly an interesting idea.

Could this be related to the myth from the Library in DPt??

Save that for an evolution.

It's rumored Dunsparce, Stantler, Sableye and Mawile, will get evolutions.

"Seeing this, the Pokémon disappeared
to a place beyond seeing..." (this part always gives me thrills)

Not sure if this is Honedge's origin tough.

Not a fan of the name, but am starting to grow on the overall design.

I find the unsheathing ability during battles a very interesting feature that they incorporated, and especially like the description. The eye kind of reminds me of an Unown. =P

I just noticed something.

Look at the official artwork and zoom it greatly until you can see its eyes (in the sheathed form it looks like if it has two more fake eyes) ...Look hat the shape it sorrounds every "eye" ...it looks like a spiral... or a 6. And there are three of those.

Is this Pokemon #666?? I highly doubt about it, but the sixes and the ghost typing are blowing my mind

Step 1 was to not have a stupid name. Check on that one. Love the name.

Now as long as it doesn't evolve into a bigger sword this will be a success.

dmaster out.

Mmm

For me, the design is the worst so far out of all the XY pokemon, except for Froakie. However, it is still a pretty nice design, which just goes to show how good the standard of designs have been for XY. It seems like everybody is hyped for an evolution of this to "improve the design", but I don't think it'll get one. It already looks evolved enough! I see it as a nice mix between Chimenco, Cofagrigus and Bronzong.

The only real negative of this pokemon is that it's got the best defensive typing in Pokemon. A little strange that I see it as negative, don't you think. Well, for an awesome typing such as that, I really hoped that we would have a badass pokemon to introduce the typing. Sadly, we have an average design which could be forgettable pretty soon.

Lastly, I want to open up the possibility of a shield counterpart.Wouldn't that be interesting? A sword more offensively-orientated, and a defensive shield.

I would say Litleo has the worst design so far, it's very plain and cartoonish (I know they're supposed to be but it's feels like a completely different style).

I agree, the standard of the designs is fantastic, much improved over Gen 4 and 5 so far!
