(1) Nintendo DSi XL To Be Released Next Month [2/24]

^ I guess. But then they should still make it the same money has the regular DSi.

The included DSiWare, albeit not astounding, totals out to $18. $170 + $18 = $188, leaving $2 to pay for the extra materials needed to manufacture a bigger model.

Yeah, it does look cool. Also new apps and stuff should be added. However, it will probubly just be the DSi only bigger.

Nintendo has been targeting adult audiences for the past few years now with both the Wii and DS, which other companies have not done. The new DS is obviously for adults who have trouble seeing. They wouldn't release something that bulky for little kids to shove in their pocket... it wouldn't fit!

That reminds me--do you think the iPad has roughly the same game plan as the DSi XL? They both seem to be larger versions of something a lot of people already have. The iPad is a bigger iPhone Touch for the reason that text may be hard to read on the tiny little thing.

I still trust that Satoru Iwata has something planned for this, even if I don't really know what. I don't know much about the DSi XL, but if it contains more flash memory than the previous DS systems (not doing so would be foolish) and has a higher resolution than the previous DS systems, then I can definitely understand what the DSi XL is for--it's meant for additional non-gaming purposes, such as an e-Reader (the book kind, not the scan-dot-code kind) and a video player. This is what the iPad is for.

I don't think it's fair to limit 1 Pokemon per animal. =P We've already had at least 7 monkeys, a million birds, a bunch of dragons, etc etc.~

As for the DSi XL, I followed the release in Japan and...I like the idea of a bigger screen but I think it's so ugly! They made the corners a lot more rounded, added more speaker holes, and chose colours that (I know this was their plan) that appeal to seniors (at least in Japan) so they would buy a DS. And they brought back the fingerprint-prone glossy finish. Hnnnng. I'm unimpressed. I'm pretty unimpressed with it, but maybe that will change when it's released?

If anything, I hope this makes the price of the normal DSi drop a bit, I've been thinking of picking one up. :]
SSonDSliteandHGonDSibahahahahaha.

EDIT: Do you think that games would look worse on a larger screen? It's not like DS games ever had that feature to deal with before, I'm thinking it would either look fuzzy or the pixels would just be bigger.
yeah i think the picture on the screens would look fuzzy for games that have already been released because they havent been modified for the bigger screens.
i dont even have a dsi cuz i didnt feel like wasting the money for a ds with a camera on it. lets just say ill stick with my ds lite until they come out with something a little more creative.
i bet its heavier now too like the original ds!

Overall I thought the dsi was a complete rip off. The camera was fun for about ... 2 minutes and all the features were pretty useless on a screen thats as small as an iphone. The camera was horrible with no use at all in many games and there was no GBA slot witch was a problem for some people. Hopefully the dsi XL will be a better concept now that it has bigger screens. But Ninteno could have made the resolution a little better. Really, the graphics look pretty fuzzy. The ds lite is the best out of the three. When the dsi was released there was a 50 dollar upgrade witch I thought made more sense than spending the full price on the console. For people who do not have any kind of ds...DO NOT BUY A DSI. Buy the dsi XL because of that one extra feature, bigger screens.

Seriosly? it like the same thing! Ill just spend 10 more bucks for a WII! All they did was make it bigger, would you buy a bigger Pc (bulky) if it was new?

Yup, the reason I didn't jump at the Dsi was the lack of GBA slot, and the camera looked like a stupid gimmick.

HOWEVER,

I've seen the early unboxings on Youtube and such. From the brief display of the screen during actual game play, the resolution (or lack thereof) is barely (BARELY) noticable. Granted, it is just YouTube but I think most people would be hard-pressed to tell the difference unless the two units were side by side running the exact same game.

If/when I have the extra money, I'd probably opt for the XL version over a DSi because the (even) bigger screen would make Pokemon games look awesome!:D

I've already migrated all the Pokemon from Emerald that I was interested in to my Diamond (DS Lite) so honestly, having/not having the GBA slot is of no further concern for me.

Plus, I've got big hands, I really like having something with more girth to hold on to, especially since I'm usually sitting at home, in a car, etc, while playing.

does anyone know the japaniese pokemon center website for shopping or even just the regular site

respond if anyone is here

The Pokémon Center website was shut down years ago. You'll have to travel to the shops to buy stuff there. :I

Everybody else:
Seriously. Buy the DSi XL. It's the best Nintendo handheld EVER. The only reason anyone are negative towards it is because they haven't seen it (live) - I convinced five or so people* to buy it just by playing with it at my League.

(* some of which had decided NOT to buy it)

It doesn't look like the (lack of) resolution is nearly as bad as everyone assumes it is based on the brief YouTube videos I's seen.

Can you confirm this for Pokemon games?

Yes. I can. Platinum looks amazing on the DSi XL, and the pixels doesn't look "blockier" or whatever in any way.
